AIBU that this phrase makes me simultaneously want to scream and giggle hysterically?
I don't even know why... I think W1A might have done it to me!

It's not as bad as "excited for" or "reaching out to".

I can live with "going forward" though I kind of know what you mean about it.

We have ‘take things forward’. No, what you mean is ‘do it’. Just say ‘do it’.

I have a manager who is obsessed with ‘having a conversation/discussion’ and relays the results of such but always prefaced with the term ‘very senior manager’ or similar as he is desperate for us to know that he mixes with the important people.

Ugh I hate 'reaching out' 🙈 Don't mind 'going forward' too much - I've used it a couple of times to mean something like 'from now on' - guilty as charged

I do love WA1, but don't object to 'going forward' - I think it's perfectly acceptable to say 'well, however we've got here / whatever has happened up to no, from now on, we'll.....'

I hate being asked to "feed back" to colleagues regarding meetings o have represented us at. Can't stand the phrase. Sounds really unpleasant

I hate ‘reaching out’. It’s ok in the context of someone who is distant and to contact them is a struggle. Or contacting someone who is upset and needs support.

But when I’ve emailed a company I’ve not ‘reached out’ to them.

It sounds hateful in dramas. ‘Ok, I’m going to reach out to Jeff and see if he can pick us up in the morning.’

"Going forward" riles me beyond belief. Wtf is wrong with "in future" or "from now on"?

I'm also starting to hate "let's unpack that". Unpacking is for shopping, luggage and the car. Nothing else.

What I don't like about "going forward" is that it is generally used to avoid reflecting on the past.

If ever there was an opportunity for us, going forward, to stand tall and make a big, bold statement about how much we value the idea of going forward, then surely this is it.

Hmm. Just taking a couple of other ways of saying the same thing "from now on" and "in future", both of those to my ear sound harsh. They sound more didactic and "I'm going to tell you what to do now..." and ideas of an old fashioned school teacher type dynamic. Whereas "going forward" feels and sounds to my ear more inclusive. It's more a case of drawing a line on whatever has gone wrong, and saying "going forward we'll do it this way". The latter being the way I would prefer to deal with staff. Just my two pence =)

I’m ok with going forward and reaching out. They are normal speech now in work places.

The ones that bugs me are user journeys. I’m sure it’s sonething similar to business journeys. Except ours is used about customers. What’s with all the journeys? Oh and users aren’t users now. They are personas.
