to buy DSD a toy box for Christmas?

DSD said she wants a box for Christmas for her toys. She currently has a few of those clear boxes but her toys are spilling out. We're moving house soon too and our current house has a stupid little alcove box type thing in her room where the stairs are. She currently uses it as a little seat and I sit on it when we read her a bedtime story.

Would we be unreasonable to buy her this and some stickers to decorate it with for her new bedroom for Christmas? It would fit her toys in and be a seat she can use too.

Obviously we wouldn't just buy her this for Christmas, she'd have other things too.

I think that's a lovely idea! Plus she has already said she wants it so go for it.

Of course not. It's what she wants and and you said she'll get other things too.

I really don't get this idea that furniture /nice things for a child's bedroom aren't suitable for Christmas.

Mine love making their rooms look nice and are perfectly happy to have things like this as a present.

I wouldn't get her stickers - it'll end up looking a mess, and they'll be a bastard to remove when she decides she isn't in to unicorns* anymore (bitter experience)

Use the box to put the rest of her (wrapped) presents in and get a unicorn* cushion to make it comfortable to sit on.

*or whatever

It will look great. Can in be painted? Perhaps with a matching cover for the cushion?

Depending on her age now that "special" could last for as little as 6 months before the whimpers of not liking unicorns* anymore or being too babyish start! Again, bitter experience.

If you’re getting her other bits aswell I would wrap them up and put them inside the toy box. Then wrap the toy box itself. Toys in a toy box - great present!

I see what you mean about the stickers getting old. But she stuck stickers on her bed about a year ago and she hasn't show any interest in wanting to change them.

Those peel- off decal stickers are good, get her a sheet of those as a present.

Go for it. DD has one of these in her room and it makes a fab seat for reading. I believe there is a foam seat pad you can buy from ikea to go with it too.

Speaking to her today she's changed her mind about wanting one

Would we BU to buy her it anyway? She already has the foam pad in pink as it fitted the box in her room perfectly. We could perhaps buy her some nice cushions to go with it.
