AIBU to be pissed off about DHs lights?

I suffer terribly from dry eyes. To the point that my eyes will give me a corneal abrasion on waking some mornings. Which is a unbearable. The pain for the first hour after this happens is awful. It can take a couple days for my vision to recover from it.

I am also really sensitive to certain lights. Really bright LED lights really affect my eyes and give me headaches.

I also suffer occasionally from optical mirgraines.

My Dad has a lot of eye issues too and ended up registered blind. So I panic a lot where my eyes are concerned.

My husband changed his car recently. And he fitted lots of bright LED lights on his car. His interior light is super bright. He has super bright LED lights on each of his interior doors.

He knows these types of lights affect my eyes. But he said ‘it’s my f’ing car so deal with it’. So I told him when it’s dark outside I won’t be going out in the car.

He said I am being dramatic. I said he is thoughtless fitting these lights that he knows affect me.

AIBU to be upset that he cares more about his lights than he does about me and my comfort?

It sounds like he's done it deliberately to aggravate you. Is he usually spoiling for a row?

LillyLollyLandy · 11/11/2017 21:00

What a dick.

Oddmanout · 11/11/2017 21:04

What a nob. I would never do this to my DW.

People saying the lights go off when the doors are closed what if he needs to put on the interior light. Also some people change the dash lights for LEDs, which are on constantly at night when the lights are on. Plus modern cars generally switch the interior light on when you turn the engine off. Is she supposed to keep her eyes closed and stumble out of the car?

This is such an avoidable issue and I agree with a PP that he sounds like a boy racer changing all his bulbs to LED.

RafikiIsTheBest · 11/11/2017 21:09

Exactly what Oddmanout said. Even if the lights go off whilst he's driving OP still has to get into the car and out of it. Short of some sunglasses that are like goggled I don't see there being a way OP can deal with it.
I too get migraines from bright lights, not sure if it's LEDs though, not sure I could tell the difference.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 11/11/2017 21:21

Op, that must all be bloody horrible. Unmumsnetty hugs.

Pollydonia · 11/11/2017 21:23

He sounds like a nasty prick tbh.

diddl · 11/11/2017 21:27

So he's done something completely unnecessary, which might be detrimental to Op & "‘it’s my f’ing car so deal with it’" is his answer.

That's just nasty.

DerelictWreck · 11/11/2017 21:37

YABVU to think that the lights are your problem

‘it’s my f’ing car so deal with it’
Your problem is your not so 'D'H. How can you be with anyone who treats you like this?

tootiredtocry · 11/11/2017 22:09

.

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 11/11/2017 22:59

Wow he has no care that he could be contributing to you having permanent eye damage and even blindness like your father.
What a big strong man he is, I hope him and the car will be very happy together once he's living in it.

DoubleAces · 12/11/2017 20:19

Sunglasses?

DeadDeadDeadRose · 12/11/2017 20:34

Oh, my mum had Sjogrens. She was very photophobic and had dry eyes. No migraines though.
