To take 3mo dd to see Santa?

Dh thinks I'm being ridiculous, ditto with buying presents. I know she won't remember any of it but it will still be her first Christmas.
Did you still do things for your children at Christmas when they were really young?

We took my daughter when she was 6 months old (cheapish one). We got cute photos and she got a rattle.

She wasn't scared, she just looked around the grotto.

Dahlietta · 09/11/2017 20:11

If it makes you happy, OP, you do it! You will have a cute photo to show people and she is too young to be terrified, I would think.

thehairyhog · 09/11/2017 20:25

Sorry, I'm with your DH. Unless it's actual Santa...

dibbleanddobble · 09/11/2017 20:25

Yes pointless for her, but also harmless. If it makes you happy then go for it!!

OhOurBilly · 09/11/2017 20:25

I have a picture of four day old DS with father Christmas last year. It was lovely ( and free) we were at a baby group which I wasn't going to miss for love nor money. I'd had an EMCS on the Monday, Friday we went to the group, I'm in the picture and still quite clearly smacked off my tits on painkillers very tired Grin

'Might as well take your pot plant.'

Confused

By the way I took my six week old ds to Santa at our church fair. Again, pointless, but after a month of him being in hospital and having to ask permission from nurses to hold him... It was nice to feel like a mummy!!

Just choose one with no queue!

It's great to get an annual picture with Father Christmas, to build up a collection over the years. We started on DD's first Christmas and will take the new baby this year (she'll be about 5 weeks old). However, we take them along to the Grotto run by nursery so it's free/low cost.

Definitely do it, you won't regret it but may rue the missed opportunity.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 09/11/2017 20:31

With other kids fair enough. On her own would be a bit odd TBH (and Santa’s always seem to terrify babies!)

Mamabear4180 · 09/11/2017 20:36

Aw cute op! Just take her! Congrats on bubba Smile

BattleaxeGalactica · 09/11/2017 20:37

I think it's totally fine. She will love looking at the photos when she's older. We used to give the big mall Santas and the attendant queuing a swerve and visit the local garden centre once the 'arrival' mania was over.

ANightWatcher · 09/11/2017 20:38

One of my friends works as Santa in a large shopping centre and has lots of scared babies/toddlers

If you do take your baby his tip for a non crying baby is hold the baby so they're looking at you and can't actually see Santa. Hand them to Santa 'backwards' so the baby is still facing you and with their back to Santa. Photos taken, baby looks to see who's holding them & when they start crying they get handed back to their parent and by that time the photos taken 😊

MerlinsScarf · 09/11/2017 20:47

I think it's a sweet idea, and as pps have said you might find Santa visits your local baby group or makes an appearance at Christmas fairs or you can go to a grotto at a quiet time.

Not everyone will agree but when DC are tiny you can end up feeling like an almost-parent. You can't do the same adult stuff but you don't qualify for the family activities either. Meeting Santa is a lovely family event, go for it!

MummaTwinkleToes · 09/11/2017 20:51

If you want to OP do it. I took DS1 when he was 5months just to get the pictures. I also dressed him in an elf babygrow Grin although be prepared to pay a fortune for pictures and fridge magnets as I couldn't choose so got them all Blush. I will be taking DS2 who will be 7months this year.

Babababababybel23 · 09/11/2017 21:05

I'm not sure how a baby is similar to a pot plant and Im sure if I took one to get a picture with Santa he would piss himself laughing. Rather than smiling nicely whilst holding my baby Grin
I may have to test it out Wink
