My appointment was 10:50 and I've got to be at work for 11:40. AIBU to cancel if I've still not been seen by 11:20? Takes me about ten mins to get from here too work. Why are they always so late. Wouldn't mind if it was just a check up but they've buggered up my filling so now in pain.

I always arrive early, and usually seen straight away. Im often on my way back out before my official appointment time!

This isn't because of amazing service though it's because my dentist works at lightning speed. It's not for everyone but I like it.

I walked out last time after waiting 40 minutes. The receptionist didn't even bother telling me the dentist was running late and then got snotty with me when I said I couldn't wait any longer.

At ours, 5 minutes at the most.

Never wait at the (private) Dentist but I did change doctors surgery because they were like this

ImminentDisaster · 08/11/2017 13:05

I very rarely have to wait (NHS). The one time I did, it was because a woman needed a break from the treatment she was having. Poor thing looked absolutely wrung out an ready to faint when she came to sit in the waiting area. (not quite sure why they sent her out there with the potential to freak out waiting nervous patients!). I'm going tonight. I'll probably have to wait an hour after this. Wink

Have been for appointment this morning.waited 3minutes for hygienist and 4 minutes for dentist afterwards. Have been with my Dentist for donkeys years and he is fab, so on the odd occasion he keeps me waiting I really don’t mind.

I've caused delays at the dentist twice (not intentionally) and always felt dreadful for the people waiting! Two different surgeries too!
Both were extractions (for orthodontic purposes)

The first one, I was booked in for 30 minutes. The tooth broke in half and dentist couldn't get the rest out. Called in another dentist who took another 20 minutes getting it out. Took an hour altogether.

The second one I was also booked for 30 minutes. There was a complication and I was in the surgery for 4 hours. I was bleeding all over the place and for whatever reason, wouldn't stop. The dentist did leave to see other patients (in another room) but had to come back after each patient to see if i'd stopped/give me more anaesthetic as I was in pain. I got stitches in the end. My dentist left late that day too. Surgery shut at 5 and I didn't leave until 5.45 Blush

I have now got a note on my file that any future extractions are to be a last appointment thingGrin

I felt dreadful!

I've not had to wait more than 10-15 minutes usually and the nurse always comes out and tells me if there's a delay.
