To ask how you wake yourself up?

I'm terrible in the mornings.
If I'm waking up early I'm like a tired moody murderous squirrel (DHs opinion) and it takes me ages to come around.
If I get a lay in I feel like someone knocked me out and get the usual swollen face, dry lips and almost feeling hungover.

What do you do to get yourself feeling and acting human ASAP in the morning?

Get out of bed and upright as soon as the alarm goes off, before I have time to think about it, then start by throwing cold water on my face.

Fatal to start "just having another few minutes"

mathanxiety · 07/11/2017 00:42

Rooster sound on my phone alarm, which is too far away for me to reach from the bed.

I also drink a tall glass of water before bed so I really need the loo as soon as I wake up.

Then I turn on the radio, have a big pot of tea and get straight into the shower.

Intrigued that so many have recommended the Lumie. I tried it for a few weeks and it didn’t work at all for me! Only woke up when the backup alarm beeps went off Shock so no point in using it

L238 · 07/11/2017 00:49

Sorry, posted too soon. Waking up about 30 mins before needing to get up tends to ease me into the day. Then a leisurely coffee. Too many snoozes is always a downfall though, hate feeling rushed in the mornings

dratsea same here with DD! Grin DD has to leave stupidly early as well.

I dont sleep well so I'm often awake before the DCa anyway. (4am today Brew ). DM always rints me at 6pm to make sure I'm awake. (I'm mutton deaf and the ring tone volume is louder than the alarm volume - there has been an incident before where I didn't hear any of the several alarms I had set and slept right through Blush ). Hence the wake up phone calls to double check my ass is awake.

L238 I only wake with the sound alarm on my Lumie also, but just having the light on for a little bit before doesn't give that startled sticky eye feeling having just been woken up in darkness. If I wake up in darkness I find it all to easy to close my eyes again.

Get up as soon as your alarm goes off. Put it somewhere where you need to get out of bed to turn it off. Go into the bathroom and turn the light on and allow yourself a few mins to wake up properly. If I snooze the alarm I struggle to get up and feel awful.

Plenty of water the night before, always leave window open slightly, a cool duvet(4.5 tog) and a shower on waking

ShotsFired · 07/11/2017 09:47

Get in the shower straight from getting out of bed.

If I don't I feel sluggish (and grimy) all day. By the time I am out of the shower I have tricked myself into waking up without realising!
