To duck tape my letterbox shut

Hate this time of year. We have some wild 'yoofs' around here and last year they tried to burn down our fence.
I'm ready for them this year with a hose. But worried that they will try something nasty like putting fireworks through the door.
DH thinks I'm overeacting, but I'd rather be safe than sorry!

YNBU. We grew up in a very shit area where it was the norm to duct tape your letterbox shut.

They'd throw fireworks AT your house for fun and when that didnt provide enough entertainment they'd throw them at unsuspecting people to see how fast they'd run.

Gaffer tape is a different type of tape than vinyl/plasticy duck tape, but could also be used (misses point of thread)

Do it. Local shits once did it to my parent's house. My brother and I were asleep upstairs. Luckily it only blew the letterbox off but it could have been so much worse.

Thankfully I just have a postbox on the outside wall just beside my front door.

I wish fireworks would be withdrawn from public sale and made available to licensed displays only. Sadly, it seems the only way to stop the twats spoiling it for the many. I realise that most people who buy them for a home display are responsible, but in the wrong hands they are just so incredibly dangerous, and can be used to terrorise and intimidate people and animals.

WTAF is wrong with people? Why would they do that?! I'd tape it shut for peace of mind if I were you.

Gaffer tape and duck tape are the same but gaffer tape is black and duck tape is silver. Both are cloth backed.
I think you are thinking of electrical (LX) tape.
