They have been doing DIY from 8am-8pm every day for the last two weeks without a break, I've no idea what they are doing but it's involved hammering on the adjoining wall, hammer drills taking up their patio (and so lots of dust). They've had a large van on the drive for the two weeks which is blocking light from our lounge window so we need the lights on whenever we are in. We came home the other day to find their skip on our drive without so much as a polite request. I'm now furious and am after (light hearted!) revenge...any ideas?!

Who stands for someone else's skip being put on their drive?

BewareOfDragons · 04/11/2017 14:16

Very cheeky. You really do have to say something and have it removed asap. And charge them for the inconvenience and any damages.

NotTheDuchessOfCambridge · 04/11/2017 14:16

Ok the skip situation is wrong but everything else is none of your business! They are working between reasonable hours to do up their house presumably. Stop being so precious but definitely sort the skip thing out. Is it on your drive or partially on your drive or have you a shared drive? The fact you haven’t said anything tells me it’s not wholly on your drive but maybe encroaching slightly.

NotTheDuchessOfCambridge · 04/11/2017 14:18

Just re-read, you’re complaining because they had a large van blocking your light? Really OP, get a grip.

PuppyMonkey · 04/11/2017 14:20

The first rule of CF threads is that they are never lighthearted - only deadly serious.

The second rule of CF threads is that they are never lighthearted - only deadly serious.

Etc.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 04/11/2017 14:39

I think that sometimes the excitment of having a real live MN CF thread robs people of all sense

PerfumeIsAMessage · 04/11/2017 14:43

I don't think your reaction to finding a skip that you hadn't hired on your drive was "oh this will get me a totes hilaires MN thread" now was it?

The rest of it is annoying, but sadly not unreasonable.

MargaretTwatyer · 04/11/2017 14:45

I found it funny. Hmm. Woman posting on Mumsnet has a go at woman for thinking about posting on Mumsnet. Less funny.

Betsy86 · 04/11/2017 14:47

You havent been round to ask why the skips on your drive.... ummmmmm ok then Hmm
Have a declutter and enjoy your free skip then is my only answer

mustbemad17 · 04/11/2017 14:49

Ring the skip company all confused, tell them there must be an error. Don't mention you know it's the neighbour's.

I could give you all sorts of vindictive revenge scenarios - had the neighbours from hell that the council wouldn't deal with - but i'd get into trouble haha

greendale17 · 04/11/2017 14:52

Is this fake? I don’t believe this is real

PerfumeIsAMessage · 04/11/2017 15:04

Nobody is having a go (are you very new to MN for thinking this?)
People are bemused that the OP is happy to let a skip (which one presumes is either on her drive a) by mistake b) builders/neighbours/skip firm are twats) yet angry at builders doing that building thing they do.

Soz OP, you ain't going to make a 1000 post NDN thread with this one. Try reading the equally "hilarious" patio door one for inspiration.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 04/11/2017 15:11

Be an adult and communicate with them, instead of bitching to MN who can do nothing for you, Hopefully not to boring for you!!! Hmm

ImNotDancing · 04/11/2017 15:29

Fill the Skip!!

Thinkingofausername1 · 04/11/2017 17:07

You need to address these issues, rather then sit, get angry and then end up in a argument with them. You have quite a few suggestions from people so be practical and do something Wink

Supermagicsmile · 04/11/2017 17:10

Fillitup!!

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 04/11/2017 22:13

Have you cancelled the cheque yet?

Ellendegeneres · 05/11/2017 17:10

So... what happened?

MrsPestilence · 05/11/2017 17:14

How lovely of your CF NDN to provide you with a free skip. What did you put in it? (CF NDN encased in concrete is probably the wrong answer.)

BriechonCheese · 05/11/2017 17:32

Why on earth wouldn't you just speak to them.

"Hi neighbour, I see your skip company made an error when delivering the skip. Could you have it removed from our property tomorrow? If not I'll have it removed at your expense.
Thanks."
