To not want to go out even though a baby sitter had been arranged.

Was supposed to be going out with dp and friends tonight but just couldn't face it. Cancelled baby sitter and sent dp out alone. I'm too fat, can't find a bra that fits and I'm just tired! AND I have nothing to talk about apart from babies as that's all I do.
Sorry ds only 12 weeks and haven't got the hang of being a mother and having a life! Is it possible?

I am one of those pathetic souls with an 8 month old baby and no evening out yet, so even if you're not in good company you are in company

Certainly wasn't ready for it after 12 weeks (this one is second baby, but wasn't ready for it at 12 weeks with first baby either)

12 weeks is very young.

Don't worry, you will get the hang of it . Honestly.

Aw pinklollypop, I think most mums feel like this at some point when their DC are so little

It does get easier though (says the woman who has only had 2 nights out in over a year!)

ambercat · 14/04/2007 21:27

I should be out tonight aswell as my mum has the children but dh and i went out for a meal last night and tonight dh has arranged to meet all his mates in town and wanted me to come aswell. Didn't fancy being the only woman so have stayed in.

Does seem a waste as we hardly ever get a babysitter.

With nos 1 & 4 I was up and about and happy, coping etc, with nos 2 & 3 it was very different so just don't place expectations on yourself about how you should be/feel. Took dd4 car booting when she was 3 days old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think with dd3 we didn't go out FOREVER.....or so I remember.

Do go out (alone?) and get yourself a bra though will make you feel much better and help disguise the post-babe tummy.

We've experienced this (now have a 3 1/2 yr old and a 4 month old). There'll be other nights when you're desperate to go out, but can't get anyone to cover for love or money.
Just don't underestimate the healing effects of a night down the pub, regardless of what you're wearing though. Your friends'll understand / sympathise with what you're going through and life does eventually roll on / come back under a semblance of control.

Thanks everyone, so glad I'm not alone! Sounds like I'm not doing as badly as I thought as have managed to go out relitavely succesfully twice already.
