I am not an ogre I promise haha, but it actually wound me up.

You know the little rides in the shopping centres some have 3 spaces ( peppa pig one )
Now normally if daughter gets on with someone else I offer to pay for a second ride for them both and this as happened the other way round to.

Today daughter gets in one of the carts I say out loud let me check if I have s pound and was going through my pockets

A voice behind say
" going on then get on "

This girl about the same age popped on the ride, whilst I was still trying to dig a pound out and the mum just stood there 🙈

So anyway wouldn't begrudge a child s go so carried on.

Finishes, I had another pound so asked DD if she wanted another go.
Other mum then says oh you can have another go to.

Waits for me to enter pound !

End of the ride, girl jumps off and they walk off with no sign of a thankyou.

I would wait for ride to be free.
If my child was on the ride and I saw someone waiting I would probably offer for them to share.
But I would be a bit miffed if someone just jumped on without asking and left without a thank you.

I would always wait until the ride is free. I have had people invite my boys to share (and i do the same) but I wouldn't just put them on.

BelfastSmile · 02/11/2017 07:56

Lol @munchkinmaster - we do the same! Our 3yo has no idea you put money in to make it go. We told him that sometimes, if you're really lucky, it starts moving, so he sometimes watches in awe as this happens.

Agree with whoever said escalators are a ride, though. His treat at the end of shopping is a go on one of those!

TakeMe2Insanity · 02/11/2017 08:01

No!

You wait until the ride is empty and then you pay and go. God no, to joining a stranger even if it is a kid.

chloehazel · 02/11/2017 08:07

omg I cringe when I imagine this situation. SO awkward!!

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 02/11/2017 08:53

No, if the other mum couldn't afford it she still should have asked and then thanked the op. Height of bad manners. I would have said something.

BlackPeppercorn · 02/11/2017 09:04

Cheeky!
If it was me, I'd have said loudly 'Excuuuuuse me, it's our turn' and squeezed my arse into the seat with my DC.
You may have seen me in your local shopping centre, especially that time there was a bit of a fuss and the firemen had to come to extricate the fat lady from the Thomas the Tank engine ride. I'm still wearing the surgical collar.

LushBlitzer · 02/11/2017 09:32

I saw this exact same scenario play out whilst I was at a Shopping centre earlier this week!
Some poor woman had paid for the ride and was trying to take some lovely photos of her kid. Another woman came with two kids and watched as one climbed onto the ride and the other ran around it, getting in the first lady's way so she couldn't take a photo properly.
I was appalled that the second woman was so rude and entitled. If she hasn't got any manners, I doubt she'll be teaching her kids any. Poor things.

Lethaldrizzle · 02/11/2017 09:35

I'd follow her to her car, get in and say can I get a lift home then?!
