Have persuaded, cajoled, consulted, drawn up a rota, stuck rota up, had discussions, been nice, reminded them of the mouse problem we briefly had, asked them to use dishwasher... And here we are!

They are my friends too but I am exhausted. “I didn’t know whose week it was” “I’ve done a —cursory— wipe down of the surfaces - therefore I have cleaned” “I don’t like using the dishwasher” “I think we should only clean as and when ie never”

Suggestions? Am sick of it Hmm

Feel your pain Lala i'm 62 and can you believe, going through this at my age? Daughter 25, still living at home and doesn't lift a finger. Has something called pcos which affects hormones and she acts like a teenager. Problem is trying to work out whether it's sheer laziness or pcos. When we try to encourage her to tidy she gets emotional like a teenager! Doesn't even wash one spoon, does her own cooking and leaves ALL the dirty pots. Love her but hate the way we're all having to live. You've had some good advice though, i like the idea of boxing things and dumping in their rooms.

goosegrass did it work with your teens? I'm desperate!

@brabenot it took about three occasions. First one as a shock, second one they realised I was serious, third one they realised it would keep happening. Exhausting though. They will go so far as taking dishes from upstairs and leaving them ON TOP but crucially NOT IN the dishwasher.
