Daily mail so I apologise- but this women is claiming a speed awareness course wouldn’t let her breastfeed her baby.

Very poor reporting but AIBU to think the women was mad to think bringing a baby to the course was ok?

Read this the first time round, about a year ago I think?

Same woman? That's strange, it was on the BBC website as a current story today. Confused

Mumof56 · 31/10/2017 22:34

She's an incompetent driver, why should the baby be put at risk in the car with her? Will she be driving to the course?

Viviennemary · 31/10/2017 22:38

She sounds like an idiot and a troublemaker. I hope she was put firmly in her place. Serves her right if she got a driving ban. Where do these nutters come from.

Crispbutty This woman appears to live and got nicked in the same area I did. If so, the course is held at the local police offices, not a hotel. I know when I did mine, there was nowhere a baby could be held for hours between feeds outside the room without everyone hearing the crying. However, the course is not that long... 9am to 12.30 if I remember correctly.

kali110 · 31/10/2017 23:16

Need to pay complete attention during the course, can't do that if there's a baby there, so think she's wrong for complaining.

TheFairyCaravan · 31/10/2017 23:23

This woman was caught speeding in July. The person asking on here was a different woman.

She's been on our local news today. Her DH had her other two kids but he couldn't cope with the 3rd. He's a GP and harped on about how in this day and age it should be expected that women can bring breastfed babies to places like this. Imo in this day and age fathers should be able to look after all their children at once.

viques · 31/10/2017 23:36

I've never done a speed awareness course , but am I right that you have to pay for it? I would be extremely annoyed if I had paid for a course, was expected to concentrate but couldn't because some entitled prat brought a baby to the course.

LadyWithLapdog · 31/10/2017 23:37

Yes, you pay about the same amount as the fine, around £100.

HannahHut · 31/10/2017 23:52

thenightsky It clearly says this in the article ''was on a speeding course run by Drive Tech in the Park Inn Hotel on Saturday.''

I did this when DD was a newborn. When I initially got the letter she was very small indeed so I deferred it for the maximum 6 months allowed until we had a feeding pattern established. I spoke to the organisers and it was clear that taking her was not feasible, so I expressed in advance so she had milk while I was away, and I took my pump, cool bag etc with me to express during breaks. Because I'd contacted them in advance the organisers were great about setting aside a room for me to use and didn't mind me being 2 mins late back on one occasion when I needed to use the loo too so ran over the break time. Most people are reasonable about things if you meet them half way.

guestofclanmackenzie · 01/11/2017 08:55

I've done the course and I wouldn't be happy with a baby in the classroom..being breastfed, winded, changed etc etc.

You have to concentrate! And you are there to learn. There are strict rules about mobile phones being switched off for that reason. There are group discussions, flip charts, and a good few hours of listening to the instructor. You take a test which is at the end of your workbook to make sure you have been paying attention and the instructor signs off your workbook to say you have completed the course and he is satisfied that you have participated and gained knowledge through completing and attending the course.

A baby present would be a huge distraction and it would be totally inappropriate. Would a baby be allowed to be present during an exam? I think not.
