I just got an invite to an event which welcomes 'genderqueer' women.

What on earth does it mean ? It's a new one on me.

Nice bit of cultural.appropriation there Tesla Hmm

WhatwouldAryado · 31/10/2017 15:32

I was told by my overly "concerned" friend that she would describe me as genderqueer because I am a make up free, high heel, handbag free straight female.
I told her to not pigeonhole me Confused

Exactly. So now think about what the term "cisgender" actually means... either a Stepford wife or a caveman.

I’m still gobsmacked by this thread. Nobody I know IRL has any of these issues or talks about them. Just nobody.

Perhaps I lead a very sheltered life !!

Also, I appreciate that some posters are quite into it all, but some of them are also very aggressive. I don’t like that. It’s also not really a good way to persuade people.

Anyway, OP, there can’t be much harm going to a party but do please let us know if there are any people there who say they are “genderqueer” and what they think it means.

Well yes... I was at the event held to discuss the implications on women of the Gender Recognition Act.

When poor Maria MacLachlan was knocked to the ground, punched & kicked for having the temerity to be a 60-year-old feminist who objected to transactivists wanting to destroy her camera, I'd already left Speaker's Corner for the venue. However I did have the pleasure, during the event, of listening to the protesters outside the building shouting "BURN IT DOWN! BURN IT DOWN!"

In the old days these misogynists would have been burning witches. Now they're clamouring to burn feminists.
