We usually go to asda because it’s close by, I love value instant mash.

I sometimes buy a few packs and put them in the food bank, along with maybe own brand biscuits & some pasta shells.

Just asking out of curiosity.

Wetwipes for cleaning (really not good for sensitive baby bums) tinned beans, vegetables, rice pudding, custard etc but not meat because of the low actual meat content. Cheese is always value, there is absolutely no difference between value and branded (as long as you buy the mature Grin ) biscuits, cereals can be ok, party cakes like Swiss rolls and apple pies are always very well received here too.

purplewaterbottle · 30/10/2017 19:20

Asda Price Mature Cheddar is FAB.

GhostlyKiwi · 30/10/2017 19:20

We get Sainsbury's basics cheddar (it's delicious), pasta, salt for things like playdough (dentist told me table salt is bad for your teeth so we use sea salt for cooking), canned fruit and frozen fruit. We used to get their baked beans and canned tomatoes as well but they don't taste as nice as they used to.

I buy a lot of own brand stuff but not much value stuff, I should probably try more actually. I buy value washing up sponges, chopped tomatoes , kids yogurts ... most other stuff is own brand. I don't buy own brand coffee, beans, ketchup or mayo but most other stuff is.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/10/2017 19:24

Anti bac wipes because they appear to be just as good and I cannot stand a ‘cloth’ hanging around. Loo rolls because the ‘luxury’ brands are all too shedding and leave a trail of dust all over the bathroom. Dishwasher tablets, salt and cleaner because, again, seem as good as branded. Washing powder and fabric conditioner, same reason. Actually, there’s not much I wouldn’t give a try over the branded version. The one exception being bleach, I’ve not found an own brand/value version as thick as Domestos.

Tesco value semi baked baguette things, value sultanas, value weetabix copies, value tinned tomatoes, value tuna (for the cats as a treat - not as nice as non value stuff for humans imo), value flour/sugar/baking stuff. Generally start at value level and work up.

OwlinaTree · 30/10/2017 19:29

Morros weetabix, tinned toms, veg sometimes, dishwasher tablets.

gingerbreadmam · 30/10/2017 19:31

Aldi cheapest toilet roll. It's actually alright.

Asda own naan breads are too.

WhoWants2Know · 30/10/2017 19:32

Spaghetti, tinned tomatoes, hummus, spaghetti hoops, tomato soup, biscuits, butter...

Lately I have been picking up quite a few nice new-ish value things at Morrisons, especially.

formerbabe · 30/10/2017 19:32

Pasta, chopped tomatoes, orange juice, chocolate digestives, butter (but I think the value version was discontinued because I can no longer find it)

Ifearthecold · 30/10/2017 19:32

Sainsbury's Frozen red berries, chopped tomatoes
Waitrose essential shower gel

minisoksmakehardwork · 30/10/2017 19:33

Value choc spread. Kids don’t care and my pocket loves the price difference.

Value lasagne sheets, passata. Flour (it’s just less refined). Can’t think of anything else yet.

fleshmarketclose · 30/10/2017 19:33

Morrisons value pickled onions are nicer than Haywards and only 30p, their pickle is good too. Also buy their wonky veg boxes and never had one dud vegetable. I also buy their cloths, freezer bags and disinfectant as I can't see any discernible difference from more expensive versions. I don't ever buy value tinned tomatoes though as I don't like the taste.

I like Sainsbury's value yoghurts and their chocolate is really good for the price and their flour is decent as well and their value butter is good too.
Iceland washing liquid is a steal at two litres for £2.25 smells great and cleans just as good as the premium brands.

Heartofglass12345 · 30/10/2017 19:34

Flour, tuna, tinned tomatoes, passata, pasta, rice, spaghetti, herbs, fromage frais for my boys. The only thing i havent really been a fan of is the rice, it tends to stick together, but thats not the end of the world lol.

SandysMam · 31/10/2017 16:50

Came on to say tried value tuna tonight (Sainsbury's basics). Really good, meaty steak, 80p a tin.
