To think this is getting bloody ridiculous now

I am having a small Halloween party for DD and some of her friends on Monday. I've done this every year.

I went into Tesco at the start of the week and there was nothing in stock except a few costumes and some of those Halloween themed mini rolls. OK, whatever. I knew I would be in a bigger town today and thought I'd get something there.

Did I fuck. Went into four different shops, including Poundland, Asda and another Tesco. Fuck all. Loads of pumpkins outside Asda, but I had to ask for anything else - was shown one tiny bit of the seasonal aisle with a few masks and fake blood. Everything else was head to toe Christmas

Halloween isn't even here yet....all I wanted was some paper cups with fucking skulls on, and some of that spider web stuff.

The lady who helped me said they'd basically cleared out everything to make way for Christmas

I'm not a last minute shopper, it's the week before Halloween, aibu to think I should still be able to get Halloween themed tat?

I don't think I've every known so much Christmas stuff to be in the shops so early, at the expense of everything else

First world problem I know. But it's a bit bloody silly isn't it? We'll start getting bored of every seasonal celebration before the bloody date rolls round

I think it must be where you are OP there was tons of Halloween stuff in the poundshops near us today and in Claires and even Superdrug still had some halloween stuff in.

Neverender · 28/10/2017 23:07

We couldn’t get anything until we went to B&M and they had loads of tat

Fluffyears · 28/10/2017 23:09

I was in asda, B&M and Marks last night and there were full aisles of Halloween stuff. Mind you asda was running out of pumpkins so got two from marks as there was just the dregs left. The Halloween aisle was stowed with people.

LostInTheTunnelOfGoats · 28/10/2017 23:10

Maybe it is just where I am, honestly there was nothing. Last year there was an absolute ton of stuff in the shops right up until Halloween day, so much that it ended up donated to local charity shops. So maybe they've understocked this year!

I ordered DD's costume from Amazon and we have pumpkins aplenty, plus I can make attractive green slime and eyeball jelly for Monday, so that's ok. But jesus the Christmas stuff. I think that's what got me. It's like mid December out there

I walked past half an aisle of Halloween tat in Poundland today if that helps at all?

user1497997754 · 28/10/2017 23:11

Loads at B & M and lots reduced to half price

Butterymuffin · 28/10/2017 23:17

Tons of stuff in my local Asda. Can you try another one nearby ?

BowlingShoes · 28/10/2017 23:18

It's the same at Easter. Leave it until the day before Good Friday and there's not an egg to be seen as it's all been replaced by BBQ and gardening stuff. Stores are missing a trick as I'm sure there are far more people who will be looking to buy Halloween things at the end of October than Christmas baubles.

washingmachinefastwash · 28/10/2017 23:30

Halloween paper plates and napkins in Aldi, I’ve not seen much in the bigger stores.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 29/10/2017 00:28

we went to buy charcoal for the BBQ the friday of August bank holiday. They were in full on halloween mode then if that helps? and thus had no charcoal.

Ski4130 · 29/10/2017 07:20

Sainsbury's here had a truckload of Halloween stuff out, and it's not a big one. Ditto our local Tesco metro. Even M & S had half and aisle of Halloween gear out.

ForalltheSaints · 29/10/2017 07:44

I hope there is nothing available. We should take back control and not celebrate this US tradition.

InvisibleKittenAttack · 29/10/2017 07:51

Might just be Tesco, loads on our Sainsbury's, nothing in Tesco - guess they decided not to stock much this year.

Also could be that it falls on the Tuesday after half term, so unlikely as many people are doing Halloween stuff compared to previous years when Halloween fell during the holidays/at a weekend, where as Bonfire night is falling on a weekend, so a lot of people will be doing low key Halloween then going to big bonfire night things at the weekend.

TheWitchwithNoName · 29/10/2017 07:56

Both Tiger and Hema had Halloween bits yesterday, or perhaps google to see if you have a party/ballon shop near you 🎃

LostInTheTunnelOfGoats · 29/10/2017 08:42

US tradition? Halloween has been a big thing in my area since before the birth of Christ, you daft sod Grin
