Some people come to AIBU specifically to be nasty whereas people tend to be nicer on the other boards. That along with giving feminists their own 'safe space' so they can all nod their heads in agreement at everything posted seem like good reasons for having boards beyond AIBU.

If I ever actually want help or advice, I certainly don't post here. SEN / AEN Education boards in particular are slow to get a response from but people don't get called all sorts of names for no reason. The replies you do get are, without exception, supportive and very helpful. I imagine it's what the creators of MN were hoping for when they began the site and not the AIBU "nest of vipers".

Only if your pony is not on the forum. But I read from your post that he is VU. tut tut.

No everything should be in Feminism chat because everything IS a feminist issue.

Whether you like it or not. You can’t name me a single thing that isn’t a feminist issue.

Even sandwiches. Even cats. Even cancelling the cheque.

@IfyouseeRitaMoreno

Not sure if you're a parody or not but whichever, it certainly supports my point.

It’s just the ridiculous crap that gets posted here.
‘AIBU to eat a cheese sandwich for lunch’......🙄

😂😂😂

A lot of the other boards were created because they got ousted from AIBU.

Preppers, Christmas and Brexit all got the heave ho.

The only good thing about AIBU is the convoluted titles that some posters have obviously twisted to make sense. E.g. AIBU to ask you to tell me your experiences of co-sleeping? AIBU to ask you for recommendations for hotels in Grimsby? Etc. Yes! You are being bloody unreasonable - just put them in Chat if you cba to search for the appropriate topic 😳

Report
Trills · 26/10/2017 18:59

All of those could be done better if people just put some effort in.

A question that makes sense and that draws in the people who can give you advice...

Title: AIBU to think that co-sleeping is NOT a rod for your own back?
First line: Because that's what my (imaginary) sister says - tell me your top tips so I can enjoy co-sleeping and prove she is wrong.
Replies: She is absolutely wrong, here's what you need to do...

Title: AIBU to think there are NO good hotels in Grimsby
First line: Because I've been looking online and can't find anything - can anyone help?
Replies: YABU the Portland Arms hotel is lovely and they do a great breakfast

Well AIBU to not go to my friend's wedding. Come on you have to tell me, even though I know it is ridiculous to travel 400 miles and stay two nights in a high end hotel when I have so many debts.

What the actual F. Why do people need to get an answer to something as obvious as this, stay at home love, pay off your debts, get a takeaway, prioritise.

Honestly.

OP is correct, AIBU is for everything possible apart from specialised fora.

So anyway, should I go to FIL's 80th birthday party in two weeks time, even though he did a George Bush Senior job on my backside in every photo so far. LOL.

AIBU to think that a general thread about AIBU is BU when it's not really an AIBU topic posted on AIBU in the first place or at I just BU over the whole AIBU thing?Grin

Well when I go the "last 15 minutes" posts, as you do.... the majority is AIBU.

I suppose people need to vent as I do myself, but honestly lots of posts are just ridiculous. No love you are not being unreasonable to have to put with this that and the other. EVER. But you know this already.

Everything other than conception and SEN and maybe some other odd things meander into AIBU. Very brave, VERY BRAVE lol.

I like chat myself. But will be keeping an eye on you in AIBU also. Mad forum and sometimes awful. But legal I suppose!

AIBU is like a secret club

Hardly anyone ever starts a thread to really as if they are B U
They just want validation...which is fine but if you were new to mumsnet pretty confusing
Oh and it's also a place where people go to be mean and shite to people but 'It's ok as this aibu'
So weird

Report
RoseAndRose · 27/10/2017 22:44

General traffic is surely 'chat'

AIBU has become a caricature
