Trapped Wind (HELP!)

RavenLG · 24/10/2017 11:00

Posting here for traffic.

For the past 4/5 days I’ve been suffering with bloating and trapped wind and I’ve weirdly lost the ability to burp!!! It’s not trapped gas in my intestines (so it doesn’t want to come out the bottom end!) it’s all in my stomach and whatever I do I can’t get it out!

I feel as if I’ve got a gas bubble stuck in my throat. When I try to burp nothing comes out or I get this strange gurgling sensation / noise and a little bit of relief but not a proper burp. I’ve tried rennies to no avail. I’ve tried drinking fizzy pop to get a load of gas inside me to force it out but it didn’t help. I feel broken and uncomfortable.

I’ve been taking fluoxetine for several weeks for anxiety and depression so I’ve heard that can cause digestive issues (I did feel nauseous for a few weeks but that has subsided). I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday next week but I’m going to Poland on Thursday for a friend’s birthday and fear the increased air pressure on the plane may make me explode!!! (and I just generally want to be comfortable for the trip).

I feel like a big inflated beach ball with a constant lump in my throat like I need to be sick.

Anyone have any remedies / advice before I go mad or call a vet to cut a hole in me like when cows and horses get bloat!!!

Sorry if it's already been said but lying on your left side with your legs bent is an absolute miracle cure for me. There is science behind it apparently. It really does work.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I drink fennel tea daily. I used to suffer with abdominal bloating and since starting this totally gone. It's excellent at getting rid of trapped wind yang for indigestion generally.
Incidentally I started drinking it when my breastfed baby got bad with colic, her symptoms disappeared within a day!

Stick your bum in the air and chest towards the floor and move around a lot. Roll around on an exercise ball or off the sofa (with it in your belly) you don't look great doing it and feel a bit weird but should help. Trapped wind is horrible.

I've just read the whole OP. Sorry! I had that strange lump in throat sensatiob during pregnancy and I discovered it was indigestion. Gaviscon massively helped. Liquid is better but even the double action tablets are brilliant!
