To think I'm not being ungrateful?

I've just come in from work to find DH has cooked dinner. All very nice so far, until he said I'm having a curry with cheesy chips Confused
I'm specific about food so can't tell if it's just me or is this a really weird combination? There's no rice to go with the curry, just cheesy chips.

The rule in my house is that if someone is cooking for you, you eat what you’re given or make yourself something else.

Having said that, we do try to pick things the others would like because it’s a nice thing to do and nobody wants to see food wasted.

Curry and cheesy chips doesn’t sound very nice, especially since it sounds like they were ready-meal microwave/oven chips (bleurgh!).

AccrualIntentions · 21/10/2017 21:01

That's weird. Now if he'd said cheesy chips and gravy, that's the food of kings.

Purple 'I love cheese and lime pickle toasties.'
I HAVE to try this!

Curry with chips is fine.

Cheesy chips are fine (even better with added beans).

Cheesy chips with curry is absolutely rank.

It's not ungrateful to say you don't like a
bloody weird combination of food just because someone had made it for you and especially if it's a ready meal rather than took hours and made from scratch. If he knows you only like rice with curry then he's being unreasonable expecting you to have cheesy chips with it just because he likes that combination.

I'm generally an "eat what you're given or make it yourself" person but I wouldn't expect someone to eat something they don't like just because I've made it. But then I wouldn't make someone a meal that I knew they didn't like.

I always eat my curries with chips. Much nicer. Haven't tried it with cheese though I love cheesy chips

RiversrunWoodville · 21/10/2017 22:35

notthereeileen I hope you like it. I spent most of my uni days eating cheese and lime pickle toasties after being introduced to them by a friend. Have just had one for supper after being inspired by this thread. Smile
