AIBU to think that the BMI chart must be wrong?

I shall start of by saying that on New years day i was a size 18/20 and am now a 10/12 (don't know the weight as I never weigh myself). I also went for a health check up and the nurse did weigh me and seems happy with my weight / height ratio.

As I never weigh myself I decided to check out my BMI which tells me I'm in the over weight catogry!

I'm 11stone 13 lb's and am 5' 10.5".

Am I really over weight still ?

The charts in diet books in 1970s and 80s gave target weights in this sort of range. I know because I looked at them extensively for years, never got anywhere near the right weights and spent my entire childhood believing I was fat. At some points I was fat because I kept throwing in the towel and bingeing because hey I was fat anyway. Lost most of my 20s to being depressed over my weight (and very overweight for a lot of the time)

Always stick NHS on the end of a health related google. It will minimise the number of diff results you get (won't eliminate misinformation completely of course)

Whatthefuck ..

It's been pretty easy ish actually. I've cut out all bread, pasta, rice and crap. No fruit.

I've eaten meat, veg and eggs and cheese mainly.

Still drink diet coke, wine and the occational hot drink (because I'm not overly keen - not 'diet').

I cook normally for the kids (spag bol, burgers, fajitias, roast etc) but replace the heavy carbs with extra salad or veg. Eg; burgers with out the buns but with plenty of salad, no spag with the bol but half a plate of veg instead.

A typical day is:

B: 2 eggs either boiled or as an Omelette (with peppers, onions, aspargus and spinish) - depending how hungry I am.
L: veg sticks with hummus
D: one of the meals above or steak and salad (often do tomato, avacardo and mozzarella with small amount of pesto).

I've found all the yummy good stuff I love and stuck with it so I do eat a lot of the same foods regularly - but I like that as I don't have to think about what I eat.

I've now started to add things like pizza or chocolate occationaly but don't over indulge like I used to.

That chart is terrible. I'm 5'4 and it would have me overweight at anything over 9 stone 4, which is over s stone under a bmi of 25.

It looks like it is from the 1980s
The children's ones have changed as I have textbooks of my mothers from back then too.

Yeah horrible chart it has my 6foot 12 stone husband well in the overweight zone (and he is not at all)

What kind of chart is that! That's not BMI. It says 8 stone and over is overweight for my height!
At 8 stone I'm a size 4 and very very skinny, that is totally wrong.
At it stands at around 9 stone my viseral fat is around 2 (very low!), and my muscle mass is good (46% +). I think that's what makes me heavier though so BMI is always a bad measurement for me, being a shortie with lots of muscle.
