To want this ice cream van banished from the earth

There is an ice cream van which comes up our street every single day, without fail, usually between 17.40-17.50. It's a small, dead-end road and he has to do an 11-point turn to head back down the road, and he does this right in front of our house. I've never seen anyone buy an ice cream from him.

Having this ice cream van literally right in front of our house, in what feels like arm's reach, wrecks our night. He always arrives around dinner time, and it takes at least 10 minutes for my 3yo DS to calm down from his 'I WANT ICE CREAM!!!' tantrum, dinner is forgotten, everyone is pissed off, etc. And this is every day, for years (we had the same problem when our 5yo DD was younger but she knows better now...).

I don't think there's anything that can be done, he probably has every right to be there, but dear god in heaven when I hear that music my cortisol levels go through the roof. Every. Damn. Day.

We referred to the van as The Music Man with our firstborn. The Music Man played music to tell boys and girls it was time to get ready for bed. Worked brilliantly until one day he told us excitedly that The Music Man now sold ice cream. Never learned how he found out.Sad

Call your council
They're pests.
We have three different ones that come twice a day. I hate them. People get up of their asses and walk to the shop.

We get one that plays match of the day music. However, he never bloody comes when it’s hot and you actually want an ice cream. Oh no. He comes when it’s cold, foggy, raining, even once when there was snow on the ground Hmm Never ever when you want a bastard ice cream.

They're drugs for sure in most of these cases! Def. wouldn't discount what sounds like relatively well off families and older people from being a main market, all the baby boomers got hooked at private school Wink

I know this is a zombie thread, but I remember the excitement of hearing ice cream van, running in and hoping I had enough time to beg for one and get money before he left!
