Someone reversed into my car

Someone reversed into my car as I was driving down the road today. I text the owner a few hours ago about how she would like to proceed and she hasn't replied.
How long should I give her to reply before I contact the insurance with her reg? The number is correct as she phoned me at the scene.

I know! I heard the bang at around 11pm but had a 'feck it, I'm tired' reaction. I wish I'd peeked out of the window now! Laughingly the insurance girl said "maybe the change in air temperature caused it to pop out". I replied "I live in Essex, it doesn't actually get THAT hot here".

I'd like to believe wants to genuinely settle out of insurance, but I've had it twice where - let's settle this - stall stall, or my brothers friend garage says its only a £50 job.

So I'd say go through the insurance and don't waste your time.

If you don't report this it'll look well dodgy on your behalf.Especially she's consulted Dr Google and has ailments as long as your arm.

There's no way she can claim I hit her.

And she may well not. But never underestimate other people. A friend of mine was hit from behind at traffic lights by someone whose car skidded down a hill in snow. They later changed their story to it being my friend who skidded backwards, uphill from stationary into them.

Someone reversed into DH's car when I was driving. At the scene, they admitted liability. Afterwards, they decided I had driven into them. Fortunately, this was disproved by me getting CCTV footage from some nearby shops. Then he wanted to do it all outside of insurance. DH agreed as he was worried about his premium going up.

It was a fucking ball-ache. The repairs to DH's car were £600. The guy dodged DH's calls for weeks, then demanded to see the CCTV for himself, then finally agreed after I gave him the number of the shopkeeper who had supplied the footage and confirmed he was at fault. DH went to meet him to get the money and he handed over an envelope with £250 in and said 'that's all you're getting'.

Just go to your insurance company, FFS. You pay them ££££ per year to do this shit for you.

I've had a similar incident. My insurance company dealt with it as a 'no fault' claim. The other party disputed, but the other driver had apologised and they eventually settled. Took two months and lots of phone calls. It made no difference to my insurance premium on renewal.

Def go through insurance.
