Hi, I work in a supermarket. A girl has been here about 14 months and whenever she is in (I work full time and only see her once) she always takes chewing gum near the till (she works on till) and opens it and never pays. I know it's a very cheap item, but it doesn't sit right with me. WWYD?

Well I'll admit to sometimes printing stuff off at work, and using the odd envelope for private correspondence - so I'd keep my nose out.

I worked in a supermarket up until recently... if I was in this situation, I would mention it to either a team leader or the checkout manager.

Then you have alerted them to it, and it's in their hands.

I was going to reply but can’t be arsed when man come along and threads go pufft

DontTouchTheMoustache · 15/10/2017 17:35

You sound like a busy body.

Annelind · 15/10/2017 17:35

Have a word with the girl - do not go tittle tattling to managers. Would you really like this girl to be sacked for this? Give her a chance!

Ellendegeneres · 15/10/2017 17:36

Oh this was so common in my first job. Manager used to do it in front of us, then share out the goodies. When someone says to him are you gonna pay for that he laughed and said when you're doing the hours I do, for the shitty pay and having to listen to (company owners name) all day, then ask me that.
Totally outing, but he showed me how to break the lift and get 'stuck' when I wanted an extra break. Used to have to call the engineer out loads, always someone stuck in there

A busybody because she doesn't like someone stealing stuff?Confused
It's theft.
It wouldn't be ok if it was a large item, but its ok because its small?
She's stealing, doesn't make a difference the item.
