Fancy a brag?

I’m about to do the very thing that gets flamed badly on here.....but I just don’t care!

My youngest (DD) is 2, has Global Developmental Delay, suspected ASD and sensory processing difficulties. She is completely non verbal.

Today, as she left to go to her dad’s, she cuddled me and clear as day said “bye bye”.

I’ve been preening all over the bloody place, telling anyone who’ll listen, bragging my little heart out. And I don’t give a damn. It was amazing, glorious, even. To hear her little voice properly in a clear word for the first time!!!!!

So, people, feel free to use this as a safe space to have a bloody good brag! You deserve it!

ProseccoMamam · 14/10/2017 23:36

That’s incredible OP I am so happy for youSmile what an amazing moment that must have been!!!!Flowers

My brag:
Both kids slept through at 8 weeks old and were both calm and non-fussy babies/children and don’t tantrum or fuss or misbehave. And no I’m not ‘lucky’. I worked fucking hard to implement a routine and boundaries and I will not be told by some snowflake earth mother that I just ‘lucky’ while they complain their bratty child will only eat bread and chocolate and still wakes through the night to breastfeed at 4yoHmm

My 2.4 year old DD is doing 25 piece jigsaws by herself! She was doing 9 pieces then her Dad didn't listen to me and get 12, he went straight for 25 and he was right.

TheDodgyEnd · 14/10/2017 23:53

@Dinosaursdontgrowontrees that’s so beautiful, I cried with happiness when I found out my son had a bestie who he giggles with during class. We have different milestones to most lol xx

Brilliant brags- love them.
Three years ago this week we found out that ivf had worked. Our daughter is just so funny, loving, and perfect - I can't believe we actually have her.
She's also a complete fussy little bugger- but tonight she ate half an apple after dinner!

withoutthelittledots · 14/10/2017 23:56

Well Done to your daughter! fabulous girl!

TheDodgyEnd · 14/10/2017 23:57

Reading these and this quote keeps springing to mind:

“Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid”

Just shows everyone has their own ‘specialness’ about them FlowersFlowers

Ah, OP, that is so sweet! How fabulous. You must be in puddles.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 15/10/2017 00:04

That's lovely news, Dodgy :) Well done, your dd!

JoffreyBaratheon · 15/10/2017 00:10

OP, one of my sons developed autism very suddenly after being appropriately verbal for his age. Overnight, he lost all his words - after he had a certain vaccine - (around 14 months) then didn't speak again til he was about 4.

So take hope from that. But my brag is that now, in his 20s, although he left school without a single GCSE, he is now at uni and getting high 2.1s/Firsts. And he is very verbal. Of all my kids he is the only one who loves books - even Dickens - and he couldn't read til he was 17. He is a source of endless pride. As are all my other sons.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 15/10/2017 00:10

Thanks TheDodgyEnd well done to your dd too!

whiteroseredrose · 15/10/2017 03:48

OP. My brag is insignificant compared to yours. I'm delighted for you!

EasterRobin · 15/10/2017 03:57

WriterByTheSea · 15/10/2017 05:16

high five to you and your little one

EvilDoctorBallerinaVampireDuck · 15/10/2017 05:24

Star DodgyEnd's DD! That's really lovely.

EvilDoctorBallerinaVampireDuck · 15/10/2017 05:31

DD mediated between her BFF and another friend at school recently. They were fighting over her, and she was still upset going to her after school club. I'm very proud of her trying to calm things down.

tealandteal · 15/10/2017 06:34

All these are so heartwarming to read! My DS (11 weeks) slept through til 6.15, feels like an extravagant lie in!

Wilhamenawonka · 15/10/2017 06:44

This is the most beautiful thread to wake up to.

DDs teacher pulled me to one side the other day to say how good she is at writing and that she has a talent for it. She's only 7 and works her socks off. Very proud of her.
