To pay £139.50 for Baleyage?

Or however you spell it! I’ve spent 5 hours at the hairdressers today after having seen an ‘oil slick’ effect baleyage in Pinterest. It’s like blues and violets over an icy brown base. It looks lovely and all but I couldn’t believe the price and the time it took! Have I been ripped off? There was a lot of work involved...had to have highlights put in, dried, then the colours, then washed, dried and cut.

Sounds lovely. I'd love to see the photo! Can't afford this anymore but would have paid it when I could.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/10/2017 19:01

5 hours of skilled labour plus overheads and all the treatments used would equate to about that price. I'm surprised you didn't find out the price beforehand though. Confused

It sounds like a very high maintenance hairstyle too. I think it's worth investing in some at home treatments to preserve the colour and keep it looking good.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 13/10/2017 19:01

If it took ages & looks fab I'm failing to see the issue tbh...

KeepItAsItIs · 13/10/2017 19:02

I'm going against the grain and saying all of these prices seem way ott! I paid £60 the first time as it needed bleaching first and took 3 hours and £55 after for the colour being topped up and takes 2 hours. Includes cut each time and styling, I usually have it curled. It may cost a bit more next time as I've gone for red balayage instead of blonde as the colour goes brassy way too quickly and it may need more bleaching before the red goes on as I like it bright.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/10/2017 19:03

Is this a thinly veiled stealth boast so you can show off your new hair OP? Grin

KeepItAsItIs · 13/10/2017 19:03

But thinking again, yours took an extra 2 hours, so yes, I guess that price would be about right. Would love to see it!

GlitterNails · 13/10/2017 19:05

I've had mine done three times and it's always been £50ish. So that seems a lot.

PesoisaTool · 13/10/2017 19:06

Ooooh pic?

RainbowsAndCrystals · 13/10/2017 19:06

Just upload a photo and stop dragging it out Hmm

Nannyplumssillyoldelf · 13/10/2017 19:07

I need to see a picture.

HotelEuphoria · 13/10/2017 19:08

I pay £62.50 in a small town hairdressers for roots and half a head of highlights. I am only in for two hours so I would say yours seems spot on.

Excited101 · 13/10/2017 19:09

I pay about £150 for my brown/blonde baleyage so sounds ok to me!

bingbongnoise · 13/10/2017 19:10

£139 for a hair colour?

They see people coming don't they? 😂🤣

GinIsIn · 13/10/2017 19:10

Seems right to me!

Vitalogy · 13/10/2017 19:11

I went past a nice barbers the other day, £10 for dry cut, I pay £20 for dry cut, they can see use coming for sure.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/10/2017 19:12

That’s really cheap for 5 hours work. Can’t wait to see it

NerrSnerr · 13/10/2017 19:12

I thought you were talking about a bottle of whiskey! I'm not very fashionable

Namechangetempissue · 13/10/2017 19:15

I think that's cheap!!! 5 hours of complex work with a good result at the end? Worth it in my opinion factoring in time spent and materials/colour -plus you had a cut.

fairyofallthings · 13/10/2017 19:15

Baleyage sounds like something you'd give horses to eat!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/10/2017 19:15

I'd need a whiskey after 5 hours in a hairdresser's chair. It sounds like my idea of Hell.

MrsMotherHen · 13/10/2017 19:15

picture pleaseeee

Mooey89 · 13/10/2017 19:16

Sounds absolutely reasonable to me!

FoodGloriousFud · 13/10/2017 19:16

.

lemonsandlimes123 · 13/10/2017 19:16

Sounds super cheap to me!

TheHeraldOfAndraste · 13/10/2017 19:18

I have just had the same oil slick effect done (navy, teal and purple mixed through very dark hair) and it cost me £65. £35 for a cut and blow dry a week ago. OPs prices sound ok to me, if on the pricey side.
