To not have a f-ing clue what to buy DSD for her 19th birthday?

Ok, not strictly my DSD but anyway, NOT THE POINT.

She's going to be 19. DP is up to his ears so I've rashly offered to handle the birthday present shopping but have subsequently realised I haven't a clue. And I have to have it sorted for Sunday. Fuckity fuck.

She's terribly sophisticated. Just started university. Used to the finer things in life. Claire's accessories isn't going to hack it, in other words. I like her a lot, know her reasonably well but am completely at a loss.

I realise IABVU for blatantly posting here for traffic, but I'M DESPERATE.

DP is paying so happy to spend £££s.

Please help. Sensible creative ideas which make me look clued up gratefully received.

Got her a pricey slouchy shoulder bag last year. It was a hit and she takes it everywhere. But now I have a rep to protect. Etc. And she's literally the only teenage/young adult girl I know. I don't remember myself at that age aside from the fact I was significantly less sophisticated...

Fuck. Please help!

Thanksawfully

Here's what i'm currently thinking:

Fjallraven rucksack, into which I put cashmere jumper, oversized, neutral colour slouchy and soft. Plus Urban Decay naked palette thingy.

Best news of all I think I can get all of these at John Lewis tomorrow evening... So I can shop in middle aged lady comfort for 19 year old pressies...

Oh if you find a cashmere jumper, can you share the link? My dd inherited one after my dmum died and it's finally fallen to bits 8 years later!

SpiderCid · 12/10/2017 15:38

Pandora bracelet and charm?

whycantwegoonasthree · 12/10/2017 15:41

Actually - Selfridges I think. Open later and a wider range of stuff... Any tips on Cashmere?

No advice just thought I’d say you sound fab and I’m jealous of your dsd!

YogiYoni · 12/10/2017 15:45

Sounds perfect. If you ever want to buy a gift for a 38 year old randomer, you're very welcome to send me that... ;-)

Gimmeareason · 12/10/2017 15:53

Fjallraven???! Just....God....WHY???

Lily2007 · 12/10/2017 15:54

With the cashmere jumper I would go for a similar style and colour to what she normally wears as at 19 you really know what you like. So if she normally wears black fitted then black fitted it is.

I had a beloved cashmere jumper at university which was light pink and fairly fitted. I still love cashmere but I'm not in the same league financially so just get them cheaply, used to get them either from MandS in the sale or the same off ebay but if money's not an issue I'm sure John Lewis and Selfridges will have lots of lovely ones. You can go to John Lewis online and see what they've got, had a look and they've got lots of cashmere jumpers. I always use John Lewis online, they deliver next day to Waitrose for free.

Fjallraven???! Just....God....WHY???

Because they're stylish, well made and practical?

AintNoRestForTheWicked · 12/10/2017 15:55

Other ideas - wireless headphones (amazing - mine are Bose and so good, Bluetooth speakers, Netflix subscription...

HoneyIshrunkthebiscuit · 12/10/2017 15:56

Naked Decay Heat Palette
Monica Vinader braclet
Ugg Slippers
Zoeva Make Up brushes
Scarf from Zara
Marc Jacobs/Micheal Kors Purse

AintNoRestForTheWicked · 12/10/2017 15:56

I'm very jealous of her!

SneakAttackDamage · 12/10/2017 15:57

Something different - a guitar? Electric with amp, or acoustic?

Maybe a book of her favourite singer's music?

HoneyIshrunkthebiscuit · 12/10/2017 15:57

Also if whatever you decide has a rose gold version then i'd go for that!

dunraven · 12/10/2017 16:00

Aeropress and some tins of Illy coffee. Compact and portable - DH keeps his at work and we take it on holiday with us.

FooFighter99 · 12/10/2017 16:02

Driving lessons?
Experience day?
Bling (nice, classy jewellery)

RhiWrites · 12/10/2017 16:03

Fitbit? I love mine.

RhiWrites · 12/10/2017 16:06

Oh, please note you can get really nice Fitbit bracelets online much nicer than the ones they come with.

Llamacorn · 12/10/2017 16:06

honeyishrunkthebiscuit's list would be my dds ideal gift list!
My dd hates the fjallraven bags, but loves everything on this list.

KeiraH · 12/10/2017 17:34

Umm not sure what happened with all the links there 😩

Hillingdon · 12/10/2017 17:38

Mac or Bobbi Brown make over with some vouchers to buy something afterwards?

Colour Analysis?
