Bovril

Inspired by another thread which reminded me of a conversation I was having a few days ago. Nothing really to do with AIBU, posting more for traffic. I enjoy Bovril in the winter months, it's the only hot drink I ever have.

Bovril. You drinkey or you no drinkey?

Do you no drinkey even though you haven't ever tried the delicious brew?

Lighthearted - in case that wasn't obvious.

I hate it, but love Marmite. DS loves it, extra strong, on chips can't be my son

amusedbush · 11/10/2017 14:35

Bloody love a mug of Bovril with loads of black pepper.

Hot buttered toast with a smudge of Bovril!

On my way to the toaster now!!

Oh I love Bovril, mostly on a hot buttered bagel or on fresh bread with tonnes of butter.

I do drink it though, and it kept me sane during both my first trimesters as it gave me the salt I craved without having to actually eat anything.

I thought this was a name thread to start with Grin.

I’m not sure I can drink it although I did google marmite recently to discover its gf so maybe bovril os safe for me. I used to drink strong veg stock hot until I realised the amount of salt in it. I’m assuming Bovril is pretty salty too.

I drink bone broth as it’s supposedly healthy.

Also, agree with you OP - no such thing as leftover gravy in this house. It’s my drink Grin

I love bovril as a drink and I also use it as a spread on toast most mornings!
It's a Nigel family trait-we all love it.

nigelsbigface · 11/10/2017 14:42

In fact I've got a higher vintage bovril poster in my kitchen, and I got my dad one for Christmas and it was the only time I think he's ever really liked a present...

FittonTower · 11/10/2017 14:44

Awwww. I love Bovril. I drink and football, or I did. I don't get to go to football much anymore. I miss football. And Bovril

GhoulsFold · 11/10/2017 14:47

I love bovril. I drink it, have it on toast, put in lots of foods. It's amazing in cottage pie, chilli con carne etc. Although I have to keep it a secret and hide it at the back of a cupboard as DH has this weird notion that it's only for old people who grew up during the war. He lumps bovril in with the likes of spam/corned beef and refuses to touch it. He has no idea it goes in all the dishes he claims I cook the best!

I don't drink it but I do love it on toast. My OH has it in sandwiches for work and got me into it

Leeds2 · 11/10/2017 16:48

Love a cup of Bovril at a football match.
