Going to bed to discover you stripped the sheets earlier and failed to remake the bed.

Running a fabulous bubble bath and realising it’s run cold.

Waking up feeling crappy and remembering you oven-prided the oven yesterday in a fit of domesticated goddessing and you have to deal with it today.

Spilling your only glass of wine.

Making toast and then realising someone’s used the last of the butter and put it back in the fridge.

Day ruiners, all of these.

AIBU?

Putting something in the oven, then going back twenty five minutes later to check it and realising you hadn't flicked on the temperature, its just been sat there being fanned instead.

liz70 · 11/10/2017 16:59

Thinking you had one more wine gum left in the bag, only to find - you don't.

Sanoffyhighstepson · 11/10/2017 17:08

I can now add... setting fire to the fire surround and a bit of the carpet while mumsnetting and lighting the fire Angry I won’t fucking sleep tonight. Just a tiny patch thank goodness. Eco fuel is dangerous in the hand of a distracted idiot 🤦‍♂️

marcopront · 11/10/2017 17:09

Cooking pasta and as you are about to drain it finding weevils in it. Then not realising the weevils are in the pasta tub before you put a new bag in it.

5rivers7hills · 11/10/2017 17:13

@Tinksee I think I would have murdered your housemate for that!!!

teraculum29 · 11/10/2017 17:13

ohhelpohnoitsa · 11/10/2017 17:18

YA MOST DEFINITELY NBU
Good OP - all of those things are awful. Cant top them right now, but will think of a suitable heart-sinker.......

thiskittenbarks · 11/10/2017 17:21

I don't think I have ever stripped the bed and not gone upstairs, shattered so excited to crawl into bed to find it still stripped.

I also regularly organise all the clean laundry on the bed into neatly folded piles for each drawer, and then get distracted and forget to actually put them away. Later I go upstairs, shattered and ready to collapse and decide that I'd rather just shove it all onto the floor than actually put it away.

When my baby was tiny I remember feeling a HUGE sense of achievement when I got the washing out on the line. Of course it rained seconds later every single time. Thank gawd for tumble dryers.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 11/10/2017 17:23

Having the most wonderful shower, wash hair, deep condition then the water runs cold. This really does make me want to cry, literally painful.

Tinksee · 11/10/2017 17:26

5rivers

I was tempted.

I cannot describe how awful I felt. I remember just going cold and shaky when I opened and read the letter.

Polska03 · 11/10/2017 17:32

A favourite item of clothing getting a hole/stain etc so that its no longer wearable and not being able to find a replacement. Kicking yourself for not buying 2 of said item in the first place!

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 11/10/2017 17:38

Going to empty the washing machine only to find you’d never put the washing in and it’s done a complete 1.1/2hr cycle.

Setting the DVD player to record a film (yes my home tech is still in the stone age), settling down and really looking forward to watching it and realising you have forgotten to set it to the correct channel; thereby recording 2 1/2 hours of blackness/snow/reruns of How I Met Your Mother.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 11/10/2017 17:46

Having just one coffee a day from the nespresso machine but each morning being the only person that fills the container with water and empties out the crammed up used capsules. By rights I should only do this twice a week with my consumption but no....it's every fecking morning.

Opening the bin and finding bin Jenga has been played to the max and bits of cellophane and onion skin spring out and get trapped at the back of the cupboard.

Having a really fantastic cup of tea, going tonsuring the last mouthful and realising you've already finished it.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 11/10/2017 17:47

Tonsuring??? GrinGrinto finish

ShotsFired · 11/10/2017 17:51

Finding random pants, socks or other small items dropped on the floor as you bought the laundry basket down.

Getting water down your washing up glove sleeve.

Dropping and then needing multiple attempts to pick it up again.

plominoagain · 11/10/2017 17:56

The DH ( who is on night shift ) ringing you at 4am to let you know there's been an accident on your work route , so you can avoid it . Except it's actually on your day off . Thanks love .

iklboo · 11/10/2017 18:09

squashy - my folks did something similar back in the 80s / 90s. A film was coming on that my dad really wanted to watch - something old that didn't come on often, wasn't available on video etc.

My mum assured him she'd set it all up. Dad sits down to watch with cuppa & biscuits....

Do do do do do do do dooooo - the opening theme of tv show Heidi, followed by something crap like Pebble Mill. He's never really forgiven her.

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 11/10/2017 18:09

Going shopping for clothes/ shoes / handbag. Finding the perfect thing but needing to check a few other shops in case they have the perfect thing cheaper , finding they haven't so return to first shop to find they've run out / no longer have it in the size / colour you want

Ewanwhosearmy · 11/10/2017 18:17

Having just one morning when you don't have to get up because you are going somewhere else instead of straight to school/work and being woken up by hammering at the door by the knob who has parked in front of your house and been blocked in.

DJBaggySmalls · 11/10/2017 18:19

Looking out the window at the rain and seeing the washing is still out.

dippyeggsandtoast · 11/10/2017 18:35

When you go to the cinema and your heart sinks when people sit next to you - worse if they are noisy - and there is no where to move.

EggysMom · 11/10/2017 18:41

Being woken at 5:30am on Saturday and Sunday morning by your (admittedly autistic) child, only for them to sleep late on Monday when you need them up early to get ready for school.

liz70 · 11/10/2017 18:47

Loading the washing machine, setting it going, and only then finding that one sneaky bastard sock that made itself invisible in the corner of the laundry bag while you were emptying it. Angry
