What are the most useful gadgets/items for teachers?

AIBU to ask for your help? My partner is a teacher, I want to buy him something useful for Christmas. The only thing I can think of so far is a trolley for carrying books to and from the car/classroom.

Can any teachers give me some ideas of what I could buy? Thank you!

Definitely no teaching related presents. He is an actual person who you have met. What. As a person, would he like? Buy that.

I’d onl6 want a spa day at a decent, properly designed spa. These aren’t cheap.

ProfessorCat · 09/10/2017 20:13

This is what all teachers want

It's really not. I'd rather pluck out and eat my own eyeballs.

Ekphrasis · 09/10/2017 20:29

A bodum flask.

Ekphrasis · 09/10/2017 20:30

That’s also my answer for ‘what does a new Mum want’ except I’d suggest two for her.

I would be giving verbal feedback to a verbal feedback stamp I can tell you... I loathe them. However, I love a stationery present. DH once got me a lovely fountain pen with ink cartridges in purple (my marking colour). Nice display stuff too - I got a DNA double helix wall sticker once.

Ekphrasis · 09/10/2017 20:39

Oh, my best ever teacher present was a joke one but seriously the best one ever. Double sided sticky tape.

But I usually prefer spa day and prosecco.

Haha, me too. I loathe the idea of a spa day. I'd even rather have a trolley!
Oh, and I also loathe those 'verbal feedback given' stamps. Teaching at its absolute laziest.
(Aren't I full of the joys of Autumn tonight?)

Bloody hell - I'm a teacher and if DP got me a teaching related gift for Xmas I'd be very disappointed. I give enough of my life to that job without it encroaching on my Xmas presents too.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 09/10/2017 21:58

So yes YABU - although I do have a Bodum travel press for my coffee. Although that was a gift I bought for myself

BackforGood · 09/10/2017 22:00

Presumably the OP knows her partner better than us, and knows if (s)he is the sort of person who would appreciate something that makes their working life easier or not ???

The best gadget I ever had was definitely an electric pencil sharpener. More of a KS1 / EYs / poss KS 2 thing than secondary though, I'd have thought.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 09/10/2017 22:02

See, I love stationery. But men just don't.

I can't imagine any of my male colleagues being thrilled with a 'teaching related' present, if I'm honest.

Maelstrop · 09/10/2017 22:06

One of those power point pens so you can stand in the class and change the slide without touching the keyboard.

Yes, but school should order and pay for this kind of stuff. I've bought my department stamps-essential, loads of different ones to save writing, PowerPoint remotes, pens, post-its, whatever they want. I certainly wouldn't expect to have these as presents from my partner unless he was getting me seriously swish versions that I would take with me from school to school.

I was liking the rocketbook thing until THE WOMAN MADE A CUP OF TEA IN THE MICROWAVE.

YogiYoni · 09/10/2017 22:14

Woah! Microwaveable books?! Insane!

Op - an e-coffee cup. Awesomeness.

MaisyPops · 09/10/2017 22:15

Another one here in 'nothing work related'.

Morally, teacher plugging gaps hides the spending shortfalls.

If they are the aort of person who might appreciate a nice notebook or a stamper then that could be a nice touch but not gagets etc.

Sunnysidegold · 09/10/2017 22:16

I am amazed by the rocket book. Total wizardry!
