...just saw this on breakfast tv

"babygrooves" dark, nightclubby set up for parents and babies who miss clubbing

quote from a dad "well it's not really cool but it's better than going to the park or something"

i just think adult venues, as this one looked like, is inappropriate for children. I just think childhood is not about initiation into nightclubs. But wach to their own, i just wouldnt feel comforatable taking my lo there.

oop each to their own

Londonmamma · 10/04/2007 10:48

God I thoughtone of the GOOD things about having kids was that you didn't have to pretend to enjoy sweaty nightclubs any more!!

ScummyMummy · 10/04/2007 10:51

it looked really crap on the tv! Like the sound of your one fandz but this was in a dingy basement and was basically dads bopping with their toddlers. They seemed quite sweet and aware they were a tad uncool but i didn't buy their argument that it was better than the park at all. Could have been nice in a different venue perhaps?

Carmenere · 10/04/2007 10:52

In the 70's my mum and dad often brought us to a Sunday morning Jazz session in a pub. It was totally adult orientated but I remember is as a lovely thing that we did together and there were loads of kids there.

ScummyMummy · 10/04/2007 10:53

Sounds lovely, carmenere.

We went to a holiday park in Dorset at the weekend and they had a clubhouse which was for adults and children, started with kids games and party dances followed by cabaret and a disco at the end of the evening, all the children had a fantastic time and this doesn't really seem that different. I wouldn't want to go somewhere like this on a regular basis, but now and again it looks fun.

IdrisTheDragon · 10/04/2007 10:57

I read an article about those a little while.

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2007 11:39

This is the one I went to (although I didn't go to Adelaide to see it)

It was fab, one of the most fun things ds and I have done together

some of these do sound a bit sad and seedy though I must admit

Clary · 10/04/2007 11:44

How was DS party F&Z - and the skirt/dress/jeans thing as well?

Troutpout · 10/04/2007 11:58

I saw on the tv this morning to Zippi. It made me chuckle...all those dads dancing badly

Troutpout · 10/04/2007 12:00

oh god...one will be a mumsnetter won't he/she

errm yeah...saw some really cool funky dads grooving on down ..

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2007 12:44

it just looked so dreary

...don't children like bright and airy not dark and dingy

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2007 12:48

probably shouldn't have called it disco

looking at the website linked too, it doesn't look to bad....

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2007 22:06

Oh Clary, the party was fab I think, thank you. I really enjoyed it and ds did too. I wore the skirt from Monsoon that HC chose for me - it felt good

mummytosteven · 10/04/2007 22:09

a toddler group but with grown up music in the background - sounds like a great idea to me.

could see tasteful lighting working rather well in a sound and light show sort of way.

chocolatechipmonkey · 10/04/2007 23:10

NQC, ds3 goes "Ching-ah!" at the end of Grace Kelly!
All mine loved dancing at that age and blessed many a wedding with their dance skills! I think they'd have loved this!

Clary · 11/04/2007 22:51

Franny that's good. Have only just realised that our DSs are strangely close in age - DS2 was 4 on Easter Saturday.
