To wonder if Trump is a psychopath?

I am not using this thread just as a general insult, but I seriously wonder if he has psychopathic traits. He seems to do anger well, but other emotions like grief he looks like he is faking it. He has very poor impulse control as is obvious from his tweets, and he lies constantly, but seems to believe it, or at the least show absolutely no shame about it. So yes, it is a bit of armchair diagnosing, but could he have psychopathic traits?

I read an article that took powerful people throughout history to see if they would be diagnosed as psychopathic in modern times and out of a long list only one person was - Henry the VIII.

What an evil bastard he was. tens of thousands executed during his reign.

Trump seems more of a willy-waving, trigger happy poser to me.

FenceSitter01 · 05/10/2017 12:59

Henry VIII had mental health issues after being in a coma for a couple of days after a jousing tournament, acquired pressure sores which ulcerated, coupled with rampant syphallis eating away at his brain.

Mittens1969 · 05/10/2017 13:00

DustySparrow, yes I would absolutely agree where Henry VIII is concerned. He believed he could do no wrong because God had made him King. No empathy for anyone else. I never thought about it that way before, but psychopathic sums him up.

Donald Trump isn’t clever enough, he comes across like a spoilt brat.

EatTheChocolateTeapot · 05/10/2017 13:02

He is a narcissist, that's why he doesn't have much empathy. His strongest emotions are smugness and contempt. Whenever he deems himself attacked (e.g. someone says he has small hands), he can't sleep and takes to Twitter. He can't deal with any slight towards him and is completely self-centered.

Love the way posters state with such certainty that he definitely isn't a psychopath, or he's this or that; and they've never even met him. Pretty sure few on here are qualified to diagnose such personality disorders especially from several thousand miles away.

There's something not quite right about him, that's pretty obvious. We can all speculate what that is but perhaps only history will tell us; if we all survive his presidency that is.

I met a person the other day that I thought was utterly vile. (And I am predisposed to like people in general so I rarely feel this way). She was loud-mouthed, unpleasant, a bully, embarrassingly ignorant, thick (hate that word but honestly this woman was so foul to the little girl she was in charge of, not to mention everybody else in the room that I have no qualms about using the word in this case), cruel and with a bizarrely high opinion of herself.

I left our encounter feeling, for the first time ever in my life, in need of a hot shower to get the experience off me. She was honestly just plain fucking horrible.

I think Donald Trump is a bit like this person, only male, American and with money.

Just plain fucking horrible.

I'm not remotely qualified to assess either this woman or DT but I suspect both would have traits of personality disorders if someone properly qualified DID assess them.

At the end of the day, though, being unutterably vile, keen on bullying, fairly thick and with an astoundingly high opinion of yourself (and a low opinion of others) will make you a lot like Donald Trump.

I also think he has a frighteningly rampant ego combined with a very 'weak' personality that cannot take any implied, perceieved or real criticism.

He's basically foul and I only hope we all live to see the back of him.

RusholmeRuffian · 05/10/2017 13:46

I think he's probably just a cunt

Subtlecheese · 05/10/2017 14:04

Yeah. I think he's just fairly run of the mill nasty but with enough money people flatter rather than avoid.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/10/2017 14:34

Personality disorders are official diagnosis using the DSM..

But psychopathy isn’t a personality disorder as far as I’m aware. Therefore I believe my comment stands.
