To ask how many rounds of IVF you had?

About to start my first round, age 33. Trying to work out the balance between hoping it will work and accepting it might not.

If you went through IVF, how many rounds did you have?

I would always recommend getting your embryos screened for chromosome trisomies such as Down's, Edwards and Pataus'. Some people have unbalanced translocations and so the implanted embryos won't be viable and it will save a lot of miscarriage heartache

It is far, far better to have you and your partner screened for the translocations! The cost of the full chromosomal array blood test is about £300. If a problem is detected, you may then qualify for 3 rounds of NHS IVF with screening for your embryos

Obviously that won't detect trisomy issues, but they aren't caused by a parent having having a translocation, and are will depend more on your age

The cost of screening embryos will be upwards of £3k
I've never seen it recommended for first-time IVF patients with no known family history of genetic disorders
