I recently moved and had to change dentist. I had my check up the other day and he was amazed that I'm 33 with no fillings.

He called in all ththe dental nurses to look at my mouth while I turned scarlet on the dentist chairBlush

Surely it's not that uncommon Confused

Anyone else footloose and filling free in their thirties?

It did make me laugh because I've recently moved from the west of Scotland to "down south" and he did mention that the awful reputation of the west of Scotland Diet made him think we lived off deep fried mars bars Grin

I think all the others I had as a kid were part of the old NHS "drill and bill" culture.

Yeah I wonder if that may be part of it. I haven’t had any new ones for well over 20 years. Also there seemed a bit more of an “oh well” attitude from parents (mine anyway, and they were good parents!) if the dentist said you needed a filling, whereas I would be devastated if my kids needed one.

I've got a few but am in my 50s
Haven't had a filling for over 30 years so suspect some were probably unnecessary in modern dentistry terms
DD 26 and DS 24 have no fillings which reinforces my theory
Sadly I'm hostage to regular hygienist sessions due to mild gum disease - age and ex smoker related - DP is currently suffering with an abscess ouch - but has neglected regular dentistry and now can't find an nhs dentist for love or money

I watched a program a while back, it was saying that certain people have a certain saliva that protects the teeth much better.

44 and no fillings due to decay. Got one due to thin enamel over a molar.

Bdayblues · 04/10/2017 06:34

36 and no fillings here!

JennyBlueWren · 04/10/2017 06:36

Also 33 and never had a filling. I wondered if it was because my parents banned us from having sweet things when we were little. I do think this has caused me to be much less controlled around treats now though.

DH is 42 with no fillings.
His 2 front teeth are Dakar though. He fell off his bike when he was15 and smashed out the real ones.

Bdayblues · 04/10/2017 06:37

I have never drank a fizzy drink in my life (can’t stand them) and tend to stick to water and tea. I do have a very sweet tooth though when it come to sweets and chocolate! Blush
I too will be devastated if I ever need a filling.

BusterGonad · 04/10/2017 07:29

I got to 38 before I needed one. I was so upset! Angry

38 end of the year, addicted to sugar and still no fillings. Ridiculously lucky.
