To ask where I can buy a cute and not-creepy baby doll for DD

I feel like despite the powers of the internet I can't find the birthday gift that my DD wants: a cute baby doll.

Requirements:

  • not creepy (no reborn dolls)
  • closes eyes when it lies down
  • no fecking annoying sounds
  • doesn't wee/do magic tricks etc... just an ordinary baby doll
  • made of plastic so can go in bath etc
  • nice friendly face
  • Less than 30 quid
  • any skintone is fine

Is this so hard??? Help!! All suggestions gratefully received.

I stopped looking on ebay after I discovered bulk reborn doll heads and arms Confused

I bought one from the Early Learning Centre. It was lovely. I'm not sure it went in the bath though.

Yes the cupcake doll from elc is lovely. Not plastic though. £12.

Whatever you do, please don't get that one that shits out noodles!
Whenever the advert comes on DS1 shouts "mum it's that pooing dolly again"

All dolls are creepy.

Leatherboundanddown · 02/10/2017 22:46

Try Corolle dolls. I think they look great. Not sure if they have plastic bodies or not.

nobutreally · 02/10/2017 22:47

Have you looked at corelle dolls - French and may push to the top of your budget, but the only doll I could stomach for did as a long term doll-disliker myself.

CakeAndChocolate · 02/10/2017 22:48

Doesn't go in the bath, but meets all other requirements- Melissa and Doug.

Calin seems to be the baby : www.petalinadolls.co.uk/corolle/mon-premier/

My daughter's Corelli doll with a soft body was beautiful & there were loads of pretty french cloths for it, but it didsn't go in the bath.

Going in the bath makes it tricky. Nearly all have soft cloth bodies to make them cuddly.
Baby Charlotte is sweet and natural looking, but does make little noises.

Dolls world babies are not too creepy (although we've only had one in the house a week.....)

Dixiestampsagain · 03/10/2017 00:27

Emmi dolls from Tesco? I can't really remember what they were like but I think they were fairly cheap and non creepy!

EskSmith · 03/10/2017 00:36

Probably blows the budget but my girls both had gotz aquini dolls (with long hair). My mum bought them each one for their 2nd birthday. They have been played with loads and are still good as new (my girls are now 8&11)
Hard bodies so they can play in bath but nice expressions and fit tesco emmie clothes too :)

Try Chad Valley, usually available via Argos and Wilko's own brand.

Thanks! Lots of useful suggestions! I have considered a larger Corolle doll, DD has a small beanbag body one already. I agree they have quite friendly and unlikely-to-kill-me-in-my-sleep faces Grin. I'd like a larger baby doll so she can do more role play etc to help her speech delay.

DD would probably love the one that shits noodles but it's not happening Grin

Was hugely entertained by seeing DH's horrified reaction to the reborn dolls when he did some looking online Grin "why! What?! NO!! Nomad were not letting ANY OF THESE IN THE HOUSE"
