To go to the doctors about mirena/missing period

Probably but it’s doing my head in so I’ll explain.

My mirena coil is done in November. In January this year I began to have spotting after 4 years of no periods. Spotting increased to flow and then from may, I’ve had a period between 24-29 days apart.

I asked for the coil out in March as I was paranoid it wasn’t working. 5 attempts to remove it at GP over two months and i got a referral to hospital for ultrasound. Ultrasound showed coil is in the right place and I’m still waiting on a referral to have it removed at the hospital.

So the coil is in the right place. And the GP assured me it still works. But my period is now nearly 2 weeks late. I had a faint line on a test (somewhere on mumsnet) but it was concluded as an evap lone. Negative test since.

But I just can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong. Would I be wasting the GP to go back and look foolish when I’m on the mirena?

I'd say trust your instincts, if things don't seem right go back to the GP

I'm a little confused - you said it was fitted in November but that you'd had no periods for 4 years?

Anyway I've had mine in for about 9 years now and for the last 2 or 3 years I get maybe 6 periods a year. Maybe for 3 months on the trot then nothing for 3 months etc. Always light and sometimes very light.

Doesn't really help too much but I thought I'd give you my experience of it!

Ah turn of phrase up here, done as in time up, finished.

I had the mirena in for 5 years, and apart from some spotting in the early days, I didn't have a period for the whole 5 years.
