To think a hotel would cover this?

If you were at a hotel and had an accident within some of their facilities which involved you needing treatment at A&E, would you expect the hotel to cover the costs to get you there?

So as not to dripfeed- you can’t drive there as you’ve had a glass of wine with lunch and are in too much pain. It’s not bad enough for an ambulance, and accident was due to a broken part of the hotels facilities

@allthebestnamesareused unfortunately they’re self employed so won’t be able to take on paid clients the week they’re off, so it will be loss of earnings.

The person who was injured should get a lawyer.

Their home insurance or insurance for their business might cover it, or “no win no fee”.

Was this in the UK? I get the feeling it was.
The reality could be....there was nothing wrong with the edge and it could have been an accident that could not have been foreseen or forestalled. We all have sharp edges in our own homes. The hotel might be able to show that they have reasonable procedures in place for inspecting and maintaining their facilities.

Did you get the incident reported in their accident book?

The hotel could have offered a taxi as a goodwill gesture and certainly it would not be seen as an admission of liability.

I know it's awful but it could have been an accident.
