Currently TTC after two miscarriages. Period was due two days ago but no sign, however I have now taken two clearblue tests - both BFN! I wondered if anyone else had had this experience and ended up with a BFP?

My period was a week late by the time I tested. I can have irregular periods and sometimes they just disappear. Went out on the Friday and Saturday nights. Evil hangover on the Sunday (I don't get hangovers) was still ill on the Monday at work so tested to rule it out and got a very strong positive.

I then tested the next day on a clear blue digital and got 3+. She's now 10 months old and shouting at me lol.

Good luck x

Justonemorepleasethen · 01/10/2017 13:19

Can you get a pink dye test over there? They are more sensitive than clear blue.

PollyCazaletWannabe · 01/10/2017 15:30

I have only ever had crappy pink dye tests here tbh. I went off them when my friend who was 6 weeks pregnant used one of mine to check it and it came out negative!!

Can you get a first response early response? CB digital aren't that sensitive.

I don't get the digital at all to be honest. Under the screen they are just line tests the same.

Lenl · 01/10/2017 15:34

I had a negative fmu first response, held my wee all day and got a clear positive in the afternoon with my first. So there could be hope!

BertieBotts · 01/10/2017 15:39

You have probably ovulated later than usual, which means that your period isn't late, it's just delayed.

Sorry for the less than exciting response! I think it's sadly a case of wait and see which I know is the worst thing to say!

BTW, Ovia is not very reliable. Fertility Friend doesn't look as pretty but it is much better at pinning down your fertile time effectively, especially if you combine cervical mucous checking with temping and/or OPKs. (Kindara is good too if you do like something prettier!) OPKs may be less reliable in China too. I know I have heard the pregnancy tests there are a bit shit. Get a trusted friend to post you loads of FRERs Grin

Clearblue are probably the most reliable that you'll have access to even though they are less sensitive than other types of tests. It's similar here in Germany, we don't have FRER here anyway and the internet cheapy ones are all Chinese and rubbish, keep getting false squinters on them which turn out to be periods Angry

Thanks all. Bertie, you always post sensible advice on my crazy TTC threads Blush thank you! I ah going to try and stay calm until Wednesday when I can test again (although by then I'll be on CD35, when my cycle is normally only 30 days!)

Whatsername17 · 01/10/2017 16:08

My cycles went crazy after my mc. I would imagine it's that. Sorry.

BertieBotts · 01/10/2017 16:12

That can be normal if you ovulated later. Ovulation can be delayed by severe stress, illness, jet lag, weird post MC cycles, and sometimes it's just random especially as you get older. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.

Overall cycle length generally does not tell you very much as you need to look at the time between ovulation and period which is called luteal phase. The luteal phase will always be consistent yet ovulation can move around. Sometimes your body will produce all the signs of impending ovulation, lutenizing hormone surge and everything but then ovulation just... fails. Sometimes then your body will have another surge and try to ovulate again later in the cycle which can lead to a late ovulation and then a late period.

However as we said earlier, a second patch of EWCM can sometimes mean pregnancy. Good luck! It's definitely an exercise in patience.

DragonMamma · 01/10/2017 16:14

I am 34 and for the last year my once regular (very strict 30 day) cycle has gone to 34-36 days, which has cost me a fortune in pg tests and aged me as I am done with having DC.

I have never had a negative pg test when pregnant - I've used cheapies and CB digitals before I was due on and they've given the right result.

I do hope you get your bfp though!

twoforluck · 01/10/2017 16:23

I got a bfn with ds1 but then tested again a couple of days later and it was positive..it was clear blue..

Danceswithwarthogs · 01/10/2017 16:53

First response ones are best imo

PollyCazaletWannabe · 02/10/2017 06:15

Still no period today but super emotional :/ maybe AF will arrive today or tomorrow

Yep! Three days after period was due I tested negative, then two days later the faintest line. Was convinced this indicated a miscarriage-to-be as had had the same late positives with two prior mc but ds born big and bouncing 8 months later!

PollyCazaletWannabe · 03/10/2017 04:43

CD34 now and still getting BFN. I have tried both Clearblue and a pink dye internet cheapie :( do you think I should make an appointment at the doctors? I have a gynecologist because of my two MCS and can make an appointment directly with her for the next few days (lucky enough to have private health care through my job as I'm in China). Do you think it's ridiculous to go to the docs?

Bumping for opinions, sorry

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 03/10/2017 10:58

If you had EWCM on day 22 I'd wait at least 3 weeks after that day and then make an appointment otherwise they are likely to say wait and see. Being in limbo is the worst.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 03/10/2017 11:03

I didn’t get a BFP with DC2 until I was ten days late. No idea why as I was puking daily. It was a long ten days though!

PollyCazaletWannabe · 03/10/2017 11:37

OK, I won't make an appointment yet. DH keeps telling me to relax but it's very difficult! Boobs really sore again today but obviously that's also a premenstrual symptom :/ I will leave it a few days and then book an appointment I think. I'll be back with any updates :) thanks all for your support

PollyCazaletWannabe · 05/10/2017 05:37

Update - I caved and made an appointment for tomorrow. Decided things weren't normal and it was best to check it out. I'll update when I've been to the docs

I used clear blue digital every morning from the ovulation onwards. I was seriously addicted to peeing on a stick! HmmShock

bobbyshafter · 05/10/2017 06:32

Let us know how appointment goes. I am in a similar position and am intrigued to know the outcome. I am on CD 32 of a very regular 28 day cycle. No period and no positive pregnancy test either.

PollyCazaletWannabe · 06/10/2017 07:21

Update - went to docs and they did a blood test - negative :( still, at least I know. Doc thought the delay might be caused by stress.
