My husband was supposed to go to his parents today to work on the car with his dad, while his mum watched our three children in their house (2 toddlers and a six month old). Turns out she'll also be looking after their cousin, who has the pox - I don't know what stage, but we think he came out in spots around the beginning of the week.

Aibu to say I don't want them round there and sorry, you'll have to change plans? (I'm at work all day)
My husband seems to think so.
Thanks!

They'll get it eventually unless they vaccinate. I your position I wouldn't have sent them (but I did eventually get mine vaccinated). Even if you do want to let them get sick eventually it's better to try to postpone it until they are old enough to know not to scratch, otherwise they could end up covered in scars.

Its a perfectly normal childhood disease. Best caught now. - FFS! It's a disease that sometimes has awful consequences and even kills. Best caught never. Avoid exposure until they are old enough to have the vaccine.

Is your DH willing to have a week off work to look after all 3 of them when the y catch it at the same time?
Or 6 weeks off work when only 1 catches it from their cousin and the other two take it in turns to catch it from each other?

I would stay away.

It's a very contagious, aggressive virus that, once caught, stays within your nervous system for life and can be reactivated anytime, causing extremely painful and sometimes severe symptoms.

It kills immuno suppressed people by causing organ failure.

Pregnant women are at higher risk of severe side effects and miscarriage.

I will never understand why, having an effective vaccine, some parents still choose for their children to suffer it and pass it around.
