To ask for embarrassing celebrity encounters

woofsaysthecat · 27/09/2017 22:58

Yes I started the celebrity claims to fame last week.

Today I excelled myself.

I went to buy a coffee before work and I walked out of the shop and literally banged into Neville from Harry Potter. I threw my cappuccino all over him. 🙈Blush He was lovely and bought me a new one but it was so embarrassing!

We were on The Great British Interior Design Challenge. I was feeling a bit flustered and, when I 1st saw Daniel Hopwood I said 'what do you think of the house Mr Dykoff?' So, idiotic thing to say, to the wrong person, and I pronounced it dick off. To his credit he looked a bit stunned, smiled, and moved on. For the record, both of them were delightful.

RhiannonOHara · 03/10/2017 18:42

lucy, I love that show! Are you going to tell us who you are?

Daniel H seems like he'd be a scream on a night out on the gin cocktails. And I rather fancy Dyckhoff

lucydogz · 03/10/2017 18:57

I'd out myself too much as I've had fairly personal stuff on here. They were both very nice.

JoffreyBaratheon · 03/10/2017 22:05

Mimsy that was deliberate. All I will say is - they were from the city where I went to uni and they were No 1 for weeks. The city was Birmingham - a lot of bands came from there in the early 80s!

I saw Darren Brown the magician and his boyfriend in a hotel bar in Venice where we were both staying. Later on I was in the lift with my husband and jokingly told him, Look into my eyes, not around my eyes, the lift doors will now open and Darren Brown magically appears. The lift doors did open that very moment and quess who was there... Darren Brown and the boyfriend. I burst into laughter like an idiot and walked away. They must have thought I was hysterical about meeting him.

RhiannonOHara · 04/10/2017 09:49

Fair enough, lucy. How about Kelly Hoppen? Or did you do it when Sophie Robinson was on it?

lucydogz · 04/10/2017 10:21

Kelly Hoppen was pretty much as you'do expect. Not a warm person but apparently very helpful to all the contestants.

RhiannonOHara · 04/10/2017 11:16

OK, fair dos to her I suppose. Just can't imagine her having a giggle with Daniel over a coffee break like I can Sophie. I think Daniel misses her.

Talkietalk · 04/10/2017 11:20

The actress who plays Pat in Eastenders (not watched it for years) - shouted Pat! got ignored (rightfully so)

Talkietalk · 04/10/2017 11:20

Still cant remember her name

RhiannonOHara · 05/10/2017 10:07

Pam St Clement?

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 05/10/2017 14:22

I was in a burger restaurant on Melrose place in Los Angeles (I don’t live there, I was on my honeymoon). I think it’s called “jumpin jacks” or something ? The staff randomly burst into song every so often

Anyway

Went to the loo and there was only one toilet and I don’t think I’d locked it properly

So mid wee I noticed that it was starting to swing open so I leaned in and sort of, held it shut while I finished my wee

But not before I accidentally made contact with a chap sitting nearby 😳😱

And when I walked out of the toilets I realised the chap was Kevin bacon

Yes that’s right everyone. Kevin bacon saw me on the actual toilet

Willow2017 · 05/10/2017 15:24

Calling

How mortifying!

I would have died of embarassment, he is gorgeous! I suppose thats a good story to tell and embarass the kids when they bring their girlfriends/boyfriends round. Grin

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 05/10/2017 15:48

*eye contact

Not actual contact 🤣🤣.

And I know. Absolutely mortifying

RhiannonOHara · 05/10/2017 15:54

God. I was once in the loo on a Pendolino train and had pressed the button to close the door, but didn't realise you had to press another to lock it. It opened on a bend, slowly but inexorably, revealing me trapped on the pan, mid-piss, to the man sitting in the little pull-down seat in the corridor outside.

Utterly mortifying.

And it wasn't even Kevin Bacon. Grin

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 05/10/2017 16:13

Rhiannon 😱😱😱😱😱🙈🙈

SeveredPixieBits · 05/10/2017 16:44

My sister met Will Carling at a party once, got completely over excited, muddled his name up and called him Carl for the whole of their brief conversation.

I turned away a very sweet lady from a tourist attraction as we were closing. I was tired and extremely short with her. Only realised as she was walking away that it was Juliet Stevenson.

I also spotted Anne Marie Duff in a play park once and sighed dreamily at her from afar. She is one of my faves. I told DH "oh look, I love her, she is a glorious actor" etc etc and after ten minutes of rhapsodising realised I was standing next to her (now ex) husband James McAvoy.

conserveisposhforjam · 05/10/2017 19:02

How did you not notice James MacAvoy?
I saw him on stage once, hadn't really seen him in anything, wasn't really bothered etc.

He was MESMERISING. Like CAN'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF HIM mesmerising. I think even dh came over a bit unnecessary Grin

RhiannonOHara · 05/10/2017 19:05

That's interesting about MacAvoy. I'd always filed him under the Academy of the Over-Rated but have only seen him on screen. What did you see him in? I would have quite liked to see that production of Macbeth he did.

SeveredPixieBits · 05/10/2017 19:12

He is underwhelming in real life Grin We were in a park and he did a kind of competitive swing pushing thing with his toddler until the little boy was going so high he cried with fright. She's well rid Wink

conserveisposhforjam · 05/10/2017 22:23

It was the Macbeth Smile

And honestly I have seen lots of great actors but he was something else altogether on stage. Just electric and incredibly sexual.

Tiny theatre though (Donmar) and an amazing production. Maybe in a playground, not washed in the blood of mortal enemies, his he doesn't really get the chance to unleash his inner panther Grin

RhiannonOHara · 06/10/2017 11:09

conserve, we none of us do in those surroundings, do we? Grin

SeveredPixieBits · 06/10/2017 16:16

Grin Grin Grin

BaskingTrout · 06/10/2017 16:37

i (very drunkenly) called paolo nutini "paolo numpty" to his face. I thought I was hilarious. he did not.

tatasa · 06/10/2017 16:55

Went over to say hello to Lenny Henry at a party, and kicked over his drink on him (he was sitting on the floor)), he was good about it.
