"Please, will you just stop talking for a while? I have my period, I am trying to concentrate and you are jabbering nonsense at me so I can't. Please SHUT UP!"

Is there?

Who is annoying you? Might be able to come up with something more subtle...

ParadiseCity · 27/09/2017 16:30

Are you at work? Just say 'right not being rude but am going to stop chatting and concentrate on this'.

Pinkpillow22 · 27/09/2017 16:30

A colleague Smile Shd is a nice person but just never shuts up!

Aquamarine1029 · 27/09/2017 16:59

Tell her you have work to do and you don't have time to chat. Simple.

Nancy91 · 27/09/2017 17:01

"I've got a banging headache" Sad

gunsandbanjos · 27/09/2017 17:02

Can you put headphones in?

Pinkpillow22 · 27/09/2017 17:02

Then she gabbles about what we have to do, the best paraceatamol, what time yo ho to bed ...

Fucky · 27/09/2017 17:05

Oh lord I had one of these! Just stood around chatting, watching everyone else work! She had such a thick skin that literally nothing no went through it. She left in the end - maybe she works with you now!

abbsisspartacus · 27/09/2017 17:07

Look at her put your finger on your lips and shhh if she tries again shhh!

paxillin · 27/09/2017 17:14

Headphones. Yapyapyapyap. Make a meal out of pulling one out, looking up, having her repeat it, saying Hmmm, putting them back in. Yapyapyap. Big to-do pull one out, look up, have her repeat it, put it back in. Silence will fall, promise.

RhiannonOHara · 27/09/2017 17:16

'I'm going to have to stop talking and focus on work now' with a nice smile and a decisive turn to your screen/notebook/whatever. Don't mention headaches or anything else that'll give her something else to talk about!

ReanimatedSGB · 27/09/2017 17:16

"Please stop talking to me for a bit, I'm trying to concentrate"
Then turn your back on her.

PastryOnMyMind · 27/09/2017 17:19

I used to work with a similar type of person. none stop talking about her kids, her arse hole DP, her tattoos her hair her whole life story. we were care assistants and everybody who teamed up with her used to finish their round very very stressed
it got to the point where I did actually say "can we just get on with it please our residents don't need to hear you talking about your home life, well talk in our breaks"
she reported me for bullying her Hmm

Withhindsight · 27/09/2017 17:21

Can Å·ou say you have some kind of tinnitus and GP prescribed noise reducing earphones and stick them on

nowahousewife · 27/09/2017 17:23

Just ask her to be quiet, you're trying to concentrate. Not sure what having your period's got to do with it.
(Disclaimer; I'm in bed recovering from surgery hence my grumpy response to you)

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/09/2017 17:23

Physically doing the zipping up movement? Noise cancelling headphones?

Turquoise123 · 27/09/2017 17:29

this is what headphones are for.

CherriesInTheSnow · 27/09/2017 17:30

I've had 2 of these sitting next to me, I use headphones but everyone knows I only have them on quietly so I can hear people talking to me as we have a large busy office. I'm afraid I'm not terribly polite and simply stop responding when I have had enough, as I can't bring myself to either respond or try and stop them :/

So glad I am on maternity leave now....

CoraPirbright · 27/09/2017 17:33

"I'm really sorry but this bit of work I am doing is rather complicated and I dont want to cock it up! Going to stop chatting now so that I can really concentrate on it"

Then, in the future, headphones.

Slimthistime · 27/09/2017 17:34

how would she respond if you said "hey, my head really hurts and I could do with some silence right now?"

Peachyking000 · 27/09/2017 17:35

I have a similar situation at work except the colleague comes into my room and won't leave so I feel your pain! I come into work to get on top of my paperwork, not to listen to soneone talking shite.

I have stopped making eye contact, and sometimes get out of my chair and walk with her towards the door.

paxillin · 27/09/2017 17:37

And how nice a person can she be if she doesn't see what her constant yapping does? I had one of those colleagues and my only thought on Linda was "shut up, enough already, zip it". It really stressed me. Telling her helped for 20 minutes, then the verbal diarrhoea onslaught started again.

acornsandnuts · 27/09/2017 17:38

Headphones didn't work for me today. The chatter just came up and pulled one side out Confused

Why don't you just say everything you want to in your OP without the 'I have my period' bit. You need to concentrate, so ask your colleague to be quiet. Job done.
