To eat 1240 cals of crisps in one sitting while preg?

6 bags spicy McCoy's and an entire bag of heat burst Dortitos. Bought at 330, just finished the last one :-/ literally all to myself.

If it makes a difference either way, I had intended the McCoy's for DH's lunch tomorrow, he can take an apple instead ee have plenty of those sitting uneaten in the fruit bowl! Bloody pregnancy spice cravings. I'm meant to be watching my weight too...

You eat 3 packs of crisps everyday, really? Agree with others who say you just have poor overall eating habits not cravings. I have low blood pressure and severe pica due to severe non-pregnancy issues and will crave the odd thing but I’d never be able to eat so much in one sitting.

Monstermuncher · 27/09/2017 16:49

My username is because of my pregnancy cravings. Pickled onion monster munch was my snack of choice and I must have eaten hundreds of packets. I figured my calorie intake was still ok though as I wasn't glugging my usual rose wine for those few months :-)

Lovemusic33 · 27/09/2017 16:51

Impressive as a one off but the fact your eating 2 or 3 packets a day and stuffing your face with pizza is pretty disgusting. I have just eaten a slice of chocolate cake and I feel disgusted with myself as it's not even the weekend Grin. I'm pleased that my eating habits are tame compared to some.

SongforSal · 27/09/2017 16:52

Ahhhhhhh. OP. Gotta love pregnancy cravings! Prior to my first born I was a health nut, to my absolute horror my craving was chip shop chips, smothered in salt and curry sauce. I actually cried once when the chip shop was shut. Not 100% on this, but it may be the sodium you are craving.

Wauden · 27/09/2017 16:52

Is it the potato you are craving? I do love new potatoes with grated cheese on and have that as the main meal!

picklemepopcorn · 27/09/2017 16:53

I ate weirdly when I was pregnant, and had little impulse control.

I ate cream crackers with pataks lime pickle on. And beetroot. Loads and loads of both. Sometimes I'd eat cheese as an excuse to eat the lime pickle.

PhelanGood · 27/09/2017 16:56

It's interesting to hear everyone else's habits, thanks for sharing them! Yes I hadn't considered wine, I guess I'm saving a few calories through that.

Man alive.. I love monster munch, I love to lick all the flavour off first then let them dissolve in my mouth. Did you know they are actually mini monster shapes, not feet? Common misconception!

Don't get me started on pickled onion space raiders......

My gluttony record in pregnancy was 9 cream eggs in one sitting.

PhelanGood · 27/09/2017 16:58

@songforsal I live next to a bloody chippy, I hear you! I have them doused in salt and vinegar then lick all the remaining salt and vinegar off the plate, absolute slattern.

I could easily do it (though not spicy flavours) as long as I didn't eat anything else that day. 1240 calories for a day isn't bad at all. For taller/larger/more active than average women it's fewer calories than required so you could eat something else later too if you wanted.

I avoid starchy carbs and 'junk' food like the plague therefore crisps are exactly the kind of food I'd lose control and binge on. So I totally get where you're coming from. But as long as you then compensate for the binge it won't do any harm.

ethelfleda · 27/09/2017 17:02

YANBU. Us pregnant ladies have so few indulgancies... the food you fancy is one of very few!
I eat 2 mars bars at a time these days...
But I do eat healthily most of the time and am a healthy weight so I don't feel too bad Grin

namechanger2735 · 27/09/2017 17:04

I was laid in bed thinking about a mars bad dipped in soy sauce the other night. Luckily for me I have neither of those things in the house.. not sure what I could trust myself if I did

how about spicy soup to satisfy the spice cravings? you can make a thin vegetable broth and go to town with the chilli, lemongrass, ginger, etc, make a big pan of hot and sour broth and have a small mug when the cravings strike?

JustAnotherUser123456 · 27/09/2017 17:09

Do you not have terrible indigestion?

Papafran · 27/09/2017 17:10

I suffer from binge eating so I can sympathise. But no, it's probably not great for your health and you will probably regret it after the baby is born. But that's easier said than done because once you get an urge to binge, it's extremely difficult to stop yourself.

CobwebKitten · 27/09/2017 17:10

That's gross.

NikiBabe · 27/09/2017 17:10

I always buy myself two or three packs of crisps after the school run, it's become something of a habit to reward me for all the exercise involved during the ten minute walk home.

3 bags of crisps as a reward for a 10 minute walk Shock

Walking at a slow pace for an hour burns about 150 cals.

10 minutes you've probably burned 25 cals and replaced it with 600 calories.

If you want to be obese go ahead.

TellMeIAmBonkers · 27/09/2017 17:12

That's pretty gross OP. Don't you feel sick? I'd throw up after that many crisps.

InvisibleKittenAttack · 27/09/2017 17:18

I'm not going to have a go, because you are pregnant, but you are eating a lot of crisps normally anyway.

I also had spicy food cravings with DC1, I ended up cooking a lot of stir fries and we ate thai green curry at least once a week.

Spicy 'crap' foods like crisps and pot noodles and the like weren't anywhere near as satisfying for me as eating whole fresh mild chillies. I figured they counted as one of my 5 a day and were sooooo good when the "I need hot food!" thing hit.

(With DC2, I craved stodge, mainly yorkshire puddings, nothing else was as satisfying - and the supermarket ready made ones didn't work, only the ones freshly made. that was a right faff as pregnancy cravings go! We ate a lot of roast dinners...)

SpoonfulOfJam · 27/09/2017 17:24

I ate just like you during my 2 pregnancies. Was 4 stone heavier by the end of it.

Loved it at the time.

Not looking forward so much to my run in the rain later and the half size lunch I've made for tomorrow.

It's coming off but taking so long. I'm like you though. All or nothing. I miss pizza and crisps. I miss being thin too.

Haffiana · 27/09/2017 17:25

Are you also pleased that you clearly have food issues?

PhelanGood · 27/09/2017 17:39

Invisible kitten - Whole fresh chillies are a much more sensible idea, I go into some kind of foodgasm at the piri piri olives they sell loose in Holland and Barrett!

Don't get indigestion that much unless you count burping a lot (it's the baby I swear) but Gandhi has been known to exact revenge come the morning.. Tmi..

Nikibabe you're not taking into account the walk there! That's at least 50 calories burned! And what about opening the pack and lifting all those crisps to my mouth for forty mins..
Yes, I'm starting to feel a bit sick!

@wolves - my mouth is watering reading all those recipe ideas. Marry me? Cooking has gone a bit out the window lately.

Sausage - that's a cautionary tale, I'm feeling inspired to try n get a grip before it's too late. Thanks for the compliment on my tastes!

@manicinsomniac that is really reassuring! According to fitbit I burn around 2500 a day so I guess there is some leeway. Not 1240 on junk leeway though!

@spoonful I needed to hear that ♥ good luck with getting back in shape.
@namechanger Mars bars wouldn't even last the walk home with me

MulderitsmeX · 27/09/2017 17:53

Fine - you'll go off them just as quick and then not be able to eat them at all. I ate 4 pasties in a week a while ago Blush (also preg if that's an excuse)
