Better to apologise after than ask permission?

When did this become the norm rather than the exception?

Someone parking across my drive "sorry love, bit of an emergency two doors down" it's fine they can stay until I need to leave but Couldn't you have just asked first?

Why are people so bloody rude? If I said no there may have been good reason he risk of me saying no shouldn't stop people having the courtesy of ask first, does it?

Depends, if it was an emergency they may not have had time to ask. Not necessarily rude at all.

Sorry my fault I didn't explain. I went out whilst they were sitting on the steps having a cigarette, so plenty of time to come and ask permission to park.
