Estrogen level higher in IVF

Hi, I am new to this IVF thing and to this forum as well and really don’t know that is this right place to ask such a question. I am 28 and my husband 30, TTC 1.5 years, we then seeked medical intervention and then underwent a series of test and then was diagnosed with fibroids. I recently went through the first stage of IVF and had to freeze the eggs as I need to under hysteroscopy and laparoscopy to remove fibroids blocking the tube. Today I went for my day 3 blood work, a nurse told me that my estrogen level is higher 3000, but my all other levels are normal and that I need to come back in 2 days for the tests and ultrasound. The nurse also told me to cut down on my medications to half and come back after 2 days. I have suffered from mild to moderate cases of ohss in the past and I am used to that, no matter how we adjust or coast with my meds. I am much more concerned right now about egg quality. I just switched clinics and had never been told of this problem in the past. I have been reading that this can indicate poor egg quality and decrease IVF success rates. Can someone please tell me what high estrogen means? And does anyone know why they would consider this an issue? Thanks in advance ! I am freaking out.

Hi there, I too have the same exact problem. I went through with the retrieval and then froze the embryos. I had 2500 E2 on day 7 of stimming and I reach 6500 on day 10, I end up with 22 eggs retrieved, supposedly of what I read each mature follicle will produce between 100 or 200 of E2. I then had to undergo laparoscopy to remove fibroids. My estrogen level is around 2500 which is very higher the doc told. He also told that high estrogen levels can alter with the implantation process and can drastically shorten the fertility window. He also told that there is an increased risk of preeclampsia (a medical condition that happens during second half of the pregnancy where there is high blood pressure and protein in urine). This is why I have frozen the embryos and when my estrogen level lower down the IVF cycle can be started. This may be the reason why your doc. must have called you back for more tests. Also, I used to think that if I produce many eggs they will not have quality, but now I changed my opinion and now I think that it doesn't matter the amount of eggs produced, everything comes if you have quality eggs or not, regardless the amount of eggs, and I said that because of all my IVF's I produce a lot of eggs, but because of my age (40's) I end up producing only 2 good quality eggs, however there are young ladies that not only produce a lot of eggs but also all of them have quality.
All the best to you and keep us posted on how the cycle went with you.

Hi there, read your post lately. Hope your blood test and ultrasound reports are good. I too had the same issue 3 years ago and when undergoing my first IVF cycle my estrogen levels soared it was at round 3000 due to which my cycle was cancelled and then later again had IVF which was a successful one. My specialist told that reasons for high levels are due to the drugs used in stimulation process. But the level is also affected by the foods eaten or environmental toxins. They adjusted my dosage and I went two days without medicines before I triggered with only half the dosage of the normal trigger. I ended up with mild OHSS, just needed to rest lots and drink lots of Gatorade and eat a lot of protein. Still had 13 eggs to go with, my specialist also put me on a low fat and high fiber diet and limits the amount of caffeine intake. And also told me to limit exposure to pollutants, pesticides and plastic. Talk to your specialist and ask if there are methods to lower down the estrogen levels. If your estrogen level increases more, they will delay the transfer. Keep checking with your RE, it sucks, but won’t put you at risk. Fingers crossed for you and all the best.
