to evict unwelcome lodger forthwith?

Apparently I'm the unwitting landlady of Cheeky Fucker Mr Mouse who, it appears, has been pooping and widdling all around my cupboards while merrily helping himself to my rice, pasta, oats, and I suspect, swigging the white wine vinegar.

Do I set a regular trap or do I have to set a humane trap?

Shock Susie??

MrsJamesAspey · 25/09/2017 19:17

Humane Smile

But make sure you take him for a long drive before releasing him otherwise he'll be back home before you are

And do I throw everything away? I could rinse it but if it's disease ridden, I'd rather bin it.

Upon seeing a mouse my dh immediately begins looking up gestation period, litter size and days to maturity. Announcing randomly we could have 100,000 mice in X many days. Assuming that the mouse immediately delivered 20 little ones somewhere. Then the search for the mode of entry begins, followed by frequent demands to shut the door faster....
Humane disposal is not an option here.

flumpybear · 25/09/2017 19:24

Humane, but find the front door he used to get in and block it ..... unless it's your front door of course Wink

Bettyspants · 25/09/2017 19:28

Regular. I've used the humane ones to no effect. Water proof packets wash and keep, anything absorbent such as a flour packet chuck.

HerOtherHalf · 28/09/2017 11:04

How do you know there's only one?

MouseLandlady · 28/09/2017 11:06

You reckon there might be 1001? I've washed the trap out and put it back.

MotherFromCatan · 28/09/2017 11:07

Oh he's cute! Do keep putting the trap down though, we caught three, one waited a few days after we sealed the hole that they were coming in through to make it's appearance though.

MouseLandlady · 28/09/2017 11:10

I'm so glad I didn't have to kill him. He was tiny! But with HUGE back legs!

With those huge back legs perhaps he's a race mouse!

Coffeeandcherrypie · 28/09/2017 11:15

What kind of mouse is that? House mouse?

And the legs ARE huge!

gibdib · 28/09/2017 11:16

Noooooooo! Ridiculous fear of mice in the house!

TiramisuQueenoftheFaeries · 28/09/2017 11:22

If you see one mouse, you usually have several. And sadly killing or chucking out even every one of the existing lodgers mightn't do much unless you can find the entry point and block it up. Little buggers can get through really, really tiny holes.

It took a few visits from a pest guy to get rid in my full-of-cracks-and-crannies Victorian terrace. Until then, I recommend storing everything in either sealed Tupperware or the fridge. "Borrowing" a cat or stationing some Ziploc bags of pre-owned cat litter around the place apparently works well for some people.

DJBaggySmalls · 28/09/2017 11:25

Are mice evolving - look at its legs!

SignoraStronza · 28/09/2017 11:25

Not necessarily. We used to hear regular scratching and knawing conning from behind the tv and shelf unit. Drove me nuts. DH eventually put a (non humane-sorry) trap down and caught the little bugger almost immediately. No further evidence since. I reckon it just didn't want to share the dcs' regular bounty of snack detritus.
