To tackle new neighbours about noise?

Hi,
We have been very fortunate to have had very considerate and friendly neighbours in the past - which means that its been a while since I have had to tackle this situation. The terrace next door is being rented out for the first time. A poster went up in the window and it was snapped up inside a fortnight. The property has a private landlord but I don't have his number yet.

Three weeks ago a 'family' moved in. We saw a male for the first two days and then he appeared to move out and now just visits occasionally during the week. There are a selection of female friends that now stay overnight. Everyone has loud voices and shouts conversation through the house. There are bursts of loud music (Reggae on a loop) which vibrate our floors and Tvs upstairs and down which we can hear everything from. These were still full volume after midnight last night. I think I know the details of all the visitors love lives, dealings with social services, life philosophies etc etc. They appear to be a lot of arguments real (and staged - followed by laughter) and every sentence is F*k this, F*k that.Partying is usually accompanied by their children crying (junior school age), seriously loud laughter and slamming of doors etc.

I am intending to speak to the neighbours on the other side of the property to see if they are having similar problems - and also to ask if the have the landlords number.

Do you think that I should approach the neighbours directly too. I feel it could get volatile from their part?

Welcoming your thoughts.

In my experience the only real solution to neighbours like this is to move.

Do you rent?

If you find a solution i'd love to know, we live in a terrace and next door is rented out, is all wood floor and laminate so no carpets to help with noise, as well as open plan downstairs. There's 2 toddlers and a dog as well as the 2"adults" and all they do is scream to eachother and at the kids. Dog is the only quiet one!

Thanks for the reply so far. To Camel: no we own our house. To Almost : sounds similar as their is a dog next to us too - and we have four cats. Never hear even a snuffle from the poor creature isn't that wierd!
