To expect 6 month old to sleep better?

6 month old DD2, EBF. Only managing 3 hours at night....was sleeping much better when she was first born. Toddler who wakes every day between 5-6am. I'm knackered. DH helps with toddler but he leaves for work at 6am and obviously can't feed her at night. Can breastfed babies sleep through? So tired......

Some do sleep ok but none of mine were that good at it! Sad

6 months ish was a bit of a crappy time - i had to go back to work then with my first and remember being exhausted.

I had to try to go to bed earlier when i could and if they were having a bad night(s) i set up to have them in bed with me so i could doze off while feeding. I didn't do bed sharing with my first actually, but wished i had when i was shattered!

Hope it settles down for you.

It's hard but not many babies sleep through at 6 months. Especially bf babies, they need the milk. DD2 is 6 months, she generally does 8-2am and then 2.30-5.30. After that she goes back to sleep but I can't put her down.

DD1 used to sleep 9-1am and then cosleep and boob her way through til dawn.

They all sleep through eventually. Best thing is to try and get as much sleep for yourself in the meantime. Get to bed early, catch up at the weekends etc.

A bit unreasonable I'm afraid. And it's not just down to ebf either - i couldn't ebf my twins so I pumped and then had to supplement. They're 12 months and still wake up at least 3-4 times each. I'm afraid some babies are just like this, which is what I repeat to myself when it's 2am and I'm up for the 4th time and ready to jump out of the window and join the circus.
