Who is right?

Spent the day with my 23 year old god daughter who is OLD. Was disgusting dating and she told me that ALL young women remove ALL body hair now and anyone who doesn't would be considered utterly disgusting and the man would probably leave if he discovered a hairy woman in bed.

As an older woman, that doesn't seem very likely to me. Close male friends and my own limited experience have led me to believe that men aren't this shallow or exacting, and that 'all men' don't find the same thing attractive.

Do younger women, and those with
More experience. Who is right?

Online Dating, 5.

I used to always get a Hollywood wax when I was younger. (All off). I can honestly say at 21-24 I felt pressured to have it off to please my partner at the time. Now I am in another relationship and I know my partner loves me for who I am, he doesn't give a crap what's growing down there. I do keep it maintained and have a Brazilian now and again but he doesn't care. There is so much pressure from media/porn for women to be what some men expect.

slbhill42 · 24/09/2017 22:58

the younger people are the more likely they are to assume that what THEY believe, EVERYONE believes. (Not exclusively age related but often).
She believes body hair is yuck, therefore in her mind everyone else does too. Or at least everyone else her age.
She's wrong, as you say people vary much more than that.

On line dating!!

Maelstrop · 24/09/2017 22:59

Watching Naked Attraction, both men and women appear to be removing most hair. Odd.

I know. Like I said, my 15 yo DD was happy just shaving her legs, but had to do PE in her knickers last term when she didn't have her PE kit, and now feels the need to remove ALL her body hair

overstuffedburitto · 24/09/2017 23:01

She was moaning about it but said it's an essential part of getting ready for a date. The men she has been dating sound like a bunch of dicks anyway, not just because of this.

A lot of young women are like this; it's terribly sad to see it happening.. I'm happy to say that I don't do it at all, and dd does her legs but that's it.. We're horribly hairy here!

Gemini69 · 24/09/2017 23:03

how utterly bizarre OP

PyongyangKipperbang · 24/09/2017 23:05

Porn has a lot to answer for.

Beeziekn33ze · 24/09/2017 23:09

GP friend was worried to have young women coming with rashes caused by hair removal. Some had done it since puberty and thought 'everyone' did it.
I had a partner who was keen on depilation. Too keen. I realised he was far from normal when he proudly told me he had removed every hair from his bollocks with tweezers 'for you'. Not for me mate.

Yukbuck · 24/09/2017 23:09

I am under 25 and shave. But that's because I want to! I've had sex without shaving and did not receive any complaints. Any guy that's shallow enough to complain about a but of hair would not get very far into sex with me.

whiteroseredrose · 24/09/2017 23:10

I'd be worried as to why someone needed me to look prepubescent!

GetOutOfMYGarden · 24/09/2017 23:12

I'm 25. I trim the lawn and keep the borders tidy, but it's not gone altogether. Can't say I've had complaints.

ForFuckSake99 · 24/09/2017 23:13

I know! That's what I was thinking. But I suppose with teenagers they all want to look the same

Yukbuck · 24/09/2017 23:13

whiterose there's always one who has to lower the tone.
It's not nice that men dictate women in any relationship (or vice versa) but preferring no hair does not connotate a child.
Some people just prefer no hair because of oral sex! Most decent men wouldn't force it though of course.

PoorYorick · 24/09/2017 23:14

I've been getting rid of all pubic hair for years and years now. I sincerely prefer it. I love the extra sensitivity and exposure. No, I wouldn't do the same for my head, but then I don't like having the same things done to my head as to my bits, plus I like colouring and styling my head hair.

flimflaminurjams · 24/09/2017 23:15

But who actually puts this pressure on? Other women - magazines and online "tips to look your hottest yet" bollox.

I don't have time to tidy up down there and also would need a lawnmower very often so it doesn't get done - too busy trying to fix eyebrows, facial hair, arm pits and legs (I am a hairy beast lol). DH never complained.

PoorYorick · 24/09/2017 23:18

I've never, ever, ever had any pressure from a woman, in print or media or anywhere else, to do anything with my pubic hair.

I started removing my pubic hair when a partner told me it was his preference and I was happy to try it. I found it increased sensitivity and I liked the exposure of it too. So I've kept doing it ever since.

Birdsgottafly · 24/09/2017 23:33

"I'd be worried as to why someone needed me to look prepubescent!"

It would take more than removing a bit of hair, post Menopause and three vaginal births.

I don't like facial beards and men that don't tidy up, but i'm not in to children, the suggestion is ludicrous.
