To ask what is the best way to advise new parents on safe sleep?

Also, is it my place to do so? I see pictures on Facebook, of young babies sleeping in their cute cots. They're surrounded by teddies, and frilly cot bumpers. I thought that it was pretty common knowledge that it's advised to keep the cot clear for safe sleeping. But I suppose that it can be confusing for parents when the shops are selling matching cot sets, with puffy, frilly bumpers, and matching cuddly toys and cushions. I try to put a comment on the pictures saying something like Beautiful picture, gorgeous baby. Just be careful with the cot bumpers, as the safe sleep baby charities recommend not using them now. I always seem to be the only one commenting that, and the parents comment back saying It's OK, they love their cot. They roll around a lot, so the bumper stops them hitting their head on the bars. I just think OK, whatever, it's your baby.

Should I just butt out and mind my own business? I'd hate for there to be a SIDS tragedy, and I didn't say anything that could have prevented it. But I might be over thinking it, and maybe everyone just thinks cot bumpers are best now?

On a side note, I also worry when I see babies in prams out and about, with the pram covered in little bead charms, a dummy on a bead charm chain, with those head bands and big bows on the baby. It worries me purely from a choking, asphyxiation point of view. Do I just need to chill out?
