To think my scales MUST be broken?

Ok, I'm overweight. I get that.

Luckily at 5'7 I carry it well but I'm aware and feel overweight and have adjusted my diet to eat more healthily.

I started 3 weeks ago and this week people have commented about how much less bloated my stomach looks and how clear my skin is now.

The first week of starting healthy eating I lost 1lb. I accept my loss will be slow as I've not yet started a regular exercise routine alongside it.
Week 2 my scales say I've lost 4lb.

This week is the week I've had comments about how I look like I've lost weight.
So I get on this morning and I e PUT ON 7lb in a week Shock

To me that seems a MASSIVE amount to change in a week (4 seemed a lot to me!)

AIBU to think something is wrong with my scales or anyone she'd any light on how that can be possible?

There is too much shitty information on this thread. Wink

I don't think I'll be due to go through menopause - I'm 37!

I do move scales but always weight on same floor - although noemi want to weigh myself all over the house and find out how light I can be 😂

I can weigh half a stone more by the end of the day or before my period.

TotalWhittle · 23/09/2017 16:42

I put on half a stone before I started my last period and was furious that I hadn't lost weight until I figured it out. Grin

Weigh daily and put it in an app
If you weigh weekly it could be a heavy day or water retention or bloating or...
if you weigh daily it gives you an actual trend

RonSwansonsMoustache · 23/09/2017 17:26

I always put on weight before my period - anything upto 7lbs due to bloating and water weight. I never weigh myself in the week before I'm due because it's never accurate!

It depends on loads of things. If you eat very carby food or drink alcohol it tends to hold more water than if you eat lean protein and veg for example, even if you've eaten the same number of calories.

youarenotkiddingme · 23/09/2017 17:38

Don't drink and have a gluten free diet so don't eat many carbs!
Although did have jacket potato last night!

In fact I've ditched to a high protein and fresh fruit and veg diet as that's was suggested to me.

I might do daily weigh in after placing scales on bathroom floor and not moving them.

Any app recommendations?

I use weight diary lite

If you have an iPhone Happy Scale is very good. It can track your moving average and/or your lowest weight. I also like its predictions.
