Do people consider OU degrees

I was wondering do people consider OU degrees real degrees? One thing that gets me is I'm into arts and crafts, you essentially get a brief & work from it, why don't they do Arts OU that are funded the same way?

It would work in a similar fashion where you touch base with a tutor periodically.

My friends laughed when I suggested getting an OU degree as I should aim for a real one instead. Is this general consensus?

I'm studying with the ou, I have a toddler and a baby on the way and currently in my 2nd year, so brick uni wasn't an option for me. Besides, the brick uni dropped the undergraduate degree I wanted to study. It is definitely a challenge but worth it.
Both my brothers got their degree through the ou, one IT, the other engineering and both very successful in their careers, which is why I wanted to follow suit.
I did attend brick uni years ago but find there is much more support studying with the ou.
Once I get my degree I will be going to brick uni for a specialist course. They are very willing to accept those with degrees from the ou as I have already enquired.
