DS has joined the school's recorder club. I payed a small fee (to cover everything) and the teacher gets the recorders, sheet music, etc.

He is the only boy in the club. There are boys in the other clubs (different years)... Anyway, she gave the girls pink recorders and him a blue one. He said he'd like to swap with one of the girls, so they did. He was told that it wasn't allowed, due to all the boys having blue recorders and all the girls having pink (including in the group that plays in assemblies!)

AIBU to think this is ridiculous?

I can't believe some teachers still behave in this way!!! My son (he was around 6 at the time) once wore a hair clip to school, small slide type thing, and a teacher made him remove it even though girls were allowed to wear them! It made my blood boil!

I never played treble just descant and Tenor , Tenor has the same finger pattern as descant so it's easier than treble . Mine is not a knick , it's straight and I doubt it was anything special just whatever you bought in the local music shop , it is however in immaculate condition having sat in my wardrobe for over 40 years in its case .
